The funds were supplied under the Clean Up Rural Beaches (CURB) program. "I am delighted to be able to make these funds available to the Ausable-Bayfield and Maitland Valley Conservation Authorities," Mr. Klopp said. "It is dismaying that more than 25 rural beaches in Ontario are closed each summer. The CURB program provides assistance to farmers and other rural residents to improve their waste systems. I am confident that by working together to save our rural beaches, we can preserve this wonderful resource for generations to come." The Ausable-Bayfield Conserva- tion Authority will use $10,141 to remediate storage/barnyard runoff; $5,000 to handle milkhouse/parlour washwater; and $9,431 to improve septic systems. The Maitland Valley Conserva- tion Authority will use $12,304 to limit livestock access and to control manure storage and barnyard runoff.
