The day Rene and Jenny arrived, Jan. 16, they were able to get tickets to see him play. What a thrill. Rene said when they landed in Brussels after a perfect flight, it was a sunny beautiful day, temperatures were 13°C. In fact it was 10 - 14°C all the time they were there. When they left the grass was green, cattle were all out in the fields. They did a lot of walking, sight seeing. The streets are narrow and there are very old, and beautiful high buildings which were built back in the 16 - 1700's. There are beautiful markets in all the cities. The countries are densely populated. There are all kinds of small cars and Rene said they drive like crazy. Germany has no speed limit on the freeway. Gasoline is very expensive so a lot are run by diesel. Ron and his girlfriend live in a beautiful furnished three bedroom apartment. He has a new car to drive every six months. The team Ron plays with won four games out of six. Ron hopes to make it back to Canada to visit his relatives and friends in May, but it is necessary for him to have an operation on his ankles in April before returning home. Canadians are sure proud of Ron. He is well remembered by his friends in Seaforth, where he started playing basketball at the high school, before going to Philadelphia College after receiving a scholarship. In some of the clippings they brought back with them, it said Ron's grandmother was making her home in Belgium but she lives in Sarnia in the winter with her. daughter. Last summer she spent a few months with her son Rene. Good luck Ron from all your former area neighbours and friends. We hope to see you when you make it back to Canada next spring.
