Adults $5.00 13 & Under $3.00 Preschoolers Free The Walton Women's Institute met Wednesday evening, Feb. 17 at the home of Berva Watson, program co-ordinator who brought ideas on the theme for another year. Berva presented a very interesting film on growing herbs, along with some ideas on how to use herbs, feeding the garden, harvesting and cooking of the *different herbs. Everyone received a package of herbs. The roll call was well answered with different hobbies enjoyed by each member. Waiting for take-off Devon Blake of RR 2, Blyth waits on his dad's snowmobile amidst a crowd of snowmobilers before he and his family took off on the Walton Area Sports Club's annual poker rally held Sunday. Organizers sold 428 hands, making it a successful event for the club which uses funds raised to support minor sports. A Brussels snowmobiler, Beth Crawford, won the $100 first prize with four kings. Second prize went to Brad Newton of Listowel and third to Henry Grobbink of the Walton area. WI learn about growing herbs Stewart Collect and 0 Canada. She thanked all those who had helped with the noon luncheon. Marjory Humphries read the minutes and correspondence. The Institute will serve two lunches and two dinners for the Blyth Festival. The District Annual will be planned at the next meeting to be held at Walton on May 11. The Walton Institute has named their nominating committee, Ruth Axtmann, Marion Godkin and President, Ruth Axtmann opened with the Institute Ode, the Mary Marjory Humphries, who will bring in the new slate of officers at next month's meeting. The noon luncheons were discussed. It was decided to raise the price after the April annual meeting. The meeting closed with a delicious lunch served by Leona McDonald, Helen Craig and the hostess. 4-H club works with wool Submitted by Dianne Dolmage The Walton Plus 41-1 Club held its introductory meeting for project, "Working with Wool" at the home of Ruth Schade on Monday, Feb. 15 at 7 p.m. Members present included Loni Horst, president; Dawn Roden, secretary; Dianne Dolmage, press reporter; Corinne Leonhardt; Theresa McClory; Alecia Dalton and Jennifer. The 4H pledge was followed by an interesting Lubbers activity dealing with the stages wool goes through to become yam. Members started knitting sample #1 using casting on, knitting and purling techniques. For homework, they are to work on that activity along with creating a title page for a creative club name to be voted on at the next meeting . E The news from thel 1044000Y 0isiiiiO4. ..1904025k Ken Crawford wins at euchre On Monday evening Doris Jacklin, Dorothy Dilworth and Grace Smith hosted 13 tables of euchre at the Ethel Hall. 50-50 draw winner was Ken Crawford; high lady, Eva Harrison; high man, Elmer Best; low lady, Isabelle Craig; low man, Bill Craig; most lone hands, June Jacklin and Jim McGillewee; tally card draw winners, Bob Bateman, Ross Stephenson, Leola Harrison, Grace Smith, Jean Rolof, Verna Crawford, Frank McKenzie, Keith Turnbull, Violet Smith, Harold Metcalfe, Percy Fischer, Ruby Steiss, Jim McLean and Ken Crawford. The next euchre will be Feb. 22. Grace Smith and Helen Cullen hosted a Valentine euchre tournament on Friday evening at the Ethel Hall. There were nine tables. First prize winners of $50 were: Hilda Holmes and Elmer Best; $25 second prize winners were Linda Stevens and Lorraine Keifer; third prize, $10 winners were Patsy O'Grady and Eileen Mann. The 50-50 draw was won by Kathy Badley. There were also 12 winners of the tally draw.
