The first and second meetings of
Auburn Great Chicken and Egg
Club were held at Helen Lapp's
home on Saturday, Feb. 13. There
were 12 members present. Leaders
are Betty Archambault and Helen
Lapp. The first item of business
was to elect an executive. Pamela
Schneider is president, vice
president is Pauline Huizinga and
secretary is Sarah Thompson. Press
reporter is Suzanne Schultz and
youth leader is Heather Hakkers.
During the meetings members
read from their books. They played
games, made eggimals, ate eggs for
lunch and watched two videos on
chickens and eggs and their trip
from farm to your fridge.
They discussed possible names
and eggs-tra special chickens won.
The next meeting will beheld on
Thursday, Feb. 18 at Helen Lapp's
home.
Lay pastor
preaches at
Knox United
Mr. Richard Bain of London, a
licensed lay preacher in the United
Church, conducted the service at
Knox United Church and Nancy
Park was organist.
Invitation to worship "Come In,
Come In and Sit Down" was sung
followed by prayers of Confession
and Approach. Hymn of Praise
"Holy, Holy, Holy" was sung.
Mr. Bain had conversation with
the children followed by the Lords
Prayer in unison and the children's
chorus "Jesus Bids Us Shine".
Hymn "We Praise You For The
Sun" was sung. Mr. Bain read the
scriptures from Isaiah and John.
Hymn "Be Thou My Vision" was
sung.
The sermon was entitled "God's
Eye Openers". Mr. Bain gave the
pastoral prayers.
The offering was received by
Larry Plaetzer and Bill Seers and
for the Sunday School brought
forward by Erika and Martin
Sturzenegger and dedicated.
Closing hymn was "From The
Slave Pens of the Delta". Mr. Bain
pronounced the benediction.
The Silver Tops held their pot
luck dinner at the Auburn
Community Hall on Wednesday,
Feb. 17 with 16 present. Ell Lapp
led in the singing of grace and
everyone enjoyed a lovely dinner.
Dorothy Grange chaired a small
business meeting, then thanked
Ruth Jardin and Phyllis Rodger for
looking after the meal.
Dorothy read the minutes in the
absence of the secretary Marion
Haggitt. She also read a piece by
People visit
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Rieck of New
Dundee visited Ruth and Tom
Jardin on Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Heilke Roetci-
soender returned home last
Thursday after a vacation in
Florida.
Euchre results
The weekly euchre party was
held on Tuesday evening, Feb. 16
with six tables in play.
Prizes went to the following:
men's high, Tom Hallam; men's
low, Jane Glousher (playing as a
man); ladies' high, Lillian
Letherland; ladies' low, Mildred
Lawlor and novelty, Stuart
Chamney.

Centre on Friday, Feb. 19.
