Tin 1 kg Box 99° 1.99 S ports Bulls sweep Walkerton The Brussels Bulls competed a three game sweep of the Walkerton Blackhawks with a 34 shutout Saturday afternoon in Brussels. The win advances the Bulls to league semi-final action against the Wingham Ironmen who swept the Goderich Sailors in three games. Game one in the best of five series is Friday night in Wingham at 8:30 with game two scheduled for Brussels Sunday at 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon Trevor Fortune stopped 24 shots for the shutout while Jason Baier and Nate Bender in the first period and George Carnegie in the third were the Bulls goal scorers. Wednesday night in Walkerton, Brussels took a 2-0 series lead with a 5-2 win over the Blackhawks. The Bulls opened a first period lead on goals by Steve Friz and Jamie Scott. Walkerton closed to within one early in the second period but singles from Jamie Williams, Ted Sills and Jeff McKee gave Brussels a 5-1 lead after 40 minutes. Trevor Fortune stopped all but one shot in the third period for the game two victory. Marks leads Novices to win. Belgrave Novices edged out Hensall Feb. 8, 11-8. The game was played in Hensall and right from the start, Belgrave took over. They scored five goals in the first period, three in the second and three in the third. While Hensall also scored three in the second and third periods, they didn't have a super lead from the first period and couldn't catch up. Goal scorers for the night were Craig Marks with six goals and three assists, Curtis Knight with three goals and two assists and Justin Campbell with one goal and three assists. The game was held Sunday in Goderich where Belgrave won 8-2. Craig Marks started the team on their road to victory with a lone goal in the first period. He then assisted Matthew Cameron with a goal early in the second. Seconds later, Tim Robinson scored solo.
