Blyth Public School recently held its annual public
speaking contest and several students in the primary
grades did exceptionally well. Top speakers were (back
row, left to right) Nick Courtney, Charlene Bromley and
Heather Elliott, all third-place winners; (middle row seated,
left to right) Jamie Lewis, Kirk Stewart and Scott McLellan,
who all placed second. The first place winners are
(standing) Jenny Ritchie for her speech on moving, Andrea
Cardiff (seated, left) for her poem of doing dishes and
Michelle Cook for her poem on Goldilocks and the Three
Bears.

installs 1993 executive

There were 12 tables of euchre at
Memorial Hall, Feb. 8.
Winners were: high lady, Ruby
Pattison; high man, Garnet
Nicholson; low lady, Ferne Howatt;
low man, Bert Daer; ladies' lone
hands, Dorothy Daer; men's lone
hands, Eldon Crich and three
special chairs, Kathy Bromley, Bert
Daer and Lome Dale.
Six tables of lost heir were in
play at Blyth Memorial Hall on
Feb. 10.
Winners were: high lady, Feme
Howatt; high gent, Alvin Snell; low
lady, Alberta Stevens; low gent,
Bert Daer and special prize, Elsie
Walsh.

The Blyth Horticultural Society
held their installation meeting on
Tuesday, Feb. 9.
John Elliott, Blyth installed the
following officers for 1993:

held. Program and Social
Committees were formed. Canvass
for membership was discussed and
districts were designated to the
executive members. The canvass is
to be completed by the first of
April.
