trust fund for Brad
A trust fund has been established for Brad Beuermann of Brussels,
who was critically injured in a car accident Monday, Jan. 25. Donations
to the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce in Brussels or Cook's in
Walton or Atwood will be contributed to offset expenses during Mr.
Beuermann's recovery.
As of Tuesday, Mr. Beuermann's condition had been upgraded to fair,
according to a hospital spokesperson. He has been moved from the
critical care unit and can now have visitors outside of family, the
spokesperson said.

The Citizen. Mr. Nichol told his audience of the challenges
and opportunities for business in the coming years. He will
speak to Blyth business people tonight.

The regular meeting of Morning
Star Rebekah Lodge was held on
Jan. 26 with Noble Grand Gertie
Kellington presiding. There was a
good attendance of members.
Plans were finalized for the
Valentine euchre party on Feb. 15.
Noble Grand Gertie Kellington
reported the travelling gavel had
been taken to Goderich Rebekah
Lodge on Jan. 19. The next meeting
will be held on Feb. 9.

Betty Graber, Brussels was
elected president of the Huron
Perth Presbyterial of the United
Church Women at its annual
meeting on Jan. 18 at Wingham
United Church.
One hundred and sixty-three
ladies attended.
The slate of officers for 1993 was
presented by Mrs. Helen Anderson
of Tavistock. Elections were
conducted by Mrs. Coultes. The
officers were installed by Peter
Tucker, chairman of Huron Perth
Presbytery; as follows: president,
Mrs. Betty Graber, Brussels; first
vice president, Mrs. Margaret
Engeland, Stratford; second vice
president, Mrs. Nancy Kraemer,
Mitchell; recording secretary, Mrs.
Anna Keyes, Varna; corresponding
secretary, Mrs. Gwen Laidlaw;
treasurer, Mrs. Beth Tubb,
Mitchell; assistant treasurer, Mrs.
Susan Pellow, Tavistock.

The church service at Brussels
Mennonite Fellowship was led by
Linda Campbell, on Sunday, Jan.
31. Several members of the
congregation took part in a short
drama presentation on the Biblical
story of feeding the 5,000.
Pastor Tom Warner preached
from Exodus 16: 1-12 and Luke 9:
10-17, on the general theme of
"The Original More with Less".
Lena Siegers sang a solo,
accompanied by her son, David
Local Women's Institutes groups
are being challenged to knit.
Irene Judge, the public relations
officer for the Huron East District
WI said WI members are being
asked to knit baby sets for
Guardian Angels. These sets are
used for premature babies in vari-
ous hospitals. Free patterns are
available at Guardian Drug Stores.
The Huron East District WI is
planning its annual meeting to be
held at Walton Hall. They're also
preparing special activities for June
which is WI month.
Some of the recent events WI
have undertaken include planting
trees. In Ontario, 20,330 trees were
planted by WI members.
Also, interesting courses have
been held including the recent
'Decor Accents'. Summary night for
this course will be held April 5 at
Walton Hall.
The group is also promoting a

The annual congregational
meeting was held on Tuesday
evening. All offices are filled for
the coming year.
In lieu of the regular Thursday
meeting for the Venture Club, a
"snow activity" afternoon was held
on Saturday for the Venture Club
group and their families. Several
committee meetings have been
scheduled for the corning week.

reports including one from Mrs.

The Financial Report was given
by Mrs. Tubb of Mitchell. Mrs.
Howson presented the budget for
1993.
President-Elect, Mrs. Betty
Graber of Brussels, presented
retiring president, Mrs. Burgin,
with a gift and expressed thanks for
three years of dedication and
enthusiasm. Mrs. Burgin replied,
"It was a great honour to be
president on our thirtieth
anniversary year. (1992)
The theme for the closing
worship was, "Feel God's
Presence." Led by Mrs. Karen
Tieman of Dashwood, the 91st
Psalm was read. The offering for
the day will be sent to The Mission
and Service Fund of the United
Church.
President, Mrs. Graber asked for
support in the coming year. She
stated, "See the Jesus in everyone,
and use our strength to grow
spiritually."
The meeting closed with the
U.C.W. Benediction.
