Edith Webster played Christmas musicwhile the ladies gathered; Elizabeth Robinson thanked the ladies • fOr the lovely meal and Mrs. Cooper replied. Several Christmas carols were sung, Tillie Wilson and Mary MacGillivray gave their reports of the Rally which they attended in Tara. A humorous reading was given by Grace Campbell. Two lovely "young" ladies were called to the' front and presented with collages by Elizabeth Robinson. These two ladies were Isobel MacKenzie and Grace Campbell. A gift exchange took place and a candy contest was held. Stella Tilbrook won first prize. Dorothy Brown favoured with some • Christmas music on the piano. Court whist , was played and Thelma Brown was high 1 lady. Tillie Wilson and Elizabeth Robinson • served squares and tea to bring a Aielighfful afternoon to a close.. • Receives award Diane Miltenburg, daughter of. Ries and Marie Miltenburg, R. R. # 7, Lucknow, received the County of Huron "Top Stud- ent Award from Huron County" at the Ridgetovvn College of Agricultural Tech- nology awards night 'November 28. Huron Warden Thomas Cunningham presented the $200.00 award. Diane is inher final year taking •an Agriculture Laboratory course. Mrs. Miltenburg and daughter,. Nancy attended the ceremony. Donnybrook UCW holds meeting •-• • The Christmas meeting of Donnybrook U.C.W. was held on Tuesday, December 11 at the home of Wanda Jefferson. Margaret Hildebrand opened the meeting with the business, reading of minutes 'of the last meeting and the financial report. The roll call was answered by a memory of a Christmas past. Everyone sang, 0 Come All ye Faithful, followed by a reading by Margaret andthe lighting of a candle by Donna Bieman and a tape of, Hark the Herald •Angels. Donna lit the second candle, read .a prayer and the ladies • listened to, 0 Little Town, .of Bethlehem. • Margaret read, ChristmaS Is. Donna lit, the third candle and explained the meaning of the three candles. Angels from the - • Realms of Glory was sung, followed by the • last of the reading of the Christmas Story. Donna read a story of Jesus birthday gift to his mother, a chest he had carved showing the story of his birth. Silent Night was sung followed by the benediction and Joy to the World. A lovely Candlelighting Service follow- ed, led by Mrs. Ken Alton, assisted by Mrs, Chester Hackett, with candles being lit for Hope, for the Poor and Humble, for the Forgotten, for People at War, for Children, for the Afflicted and Oppressed and for Those who Seek Light,.
