hockey over the weekend with a loss to
Wityham on FridaY and a lopsidecl victory
over Drayton on Sunday,
The Royals nrovedto be too much for the
• locals for the third time this year, as they
• skated to a 9- 6 victory. Wingham scored
first but the Lahcer'S newest addition,
Grant Murray, brought the Lancers even.
The Lancers fell behind again but two goals
by, Grant Gilchrist gave Lucknow a 3 2
lead at the end of one period.
In the second it was all royals as they
outscored Lucknow 5 - Ito take a 7 -4 lead.
Lucknow got two more goals in the third
from Jim Murray and,.Steve Simpson only
to have Wingham score two themselves to
put the game out of reach. -
•Allan Dyck and Ray Guay ahared, the
netminding duties for the locals.

in Tiverton last 'Thursday 4 - 1.

by Terry Stanley, clinched it for Lucknow in

Chris Stevenson and Brad Murray made it
3 - 1 at the end of ,the first and Stevenson,
Priestap and.Crich with two made it 7- 1 at
the end of, the second. Murray added twefi

The championship game with Wiarton
was a fast pace,. strong skating game for
4,- the first two periods. Lucknow, led 4:.- 1
going into the third and after playing
strong positional hockey and a fine team
effort, they slackened offa bit in the third
but held on for a 4 - 2 win to bring home, the
championship: trophy. • ,
Priestap got Lucknow's first goal in this
game followed by Justin Murray, Crich and
.Stevenson. • •
The Lucknow team played well despite
•various coaching teams behind the bench.
Team • coach Pete Neufeld and *cam
manager Evans Helm provided the leader-
ship for the first game followed by Gerald
Murray and Evans Helm who took over for
• the second game. Murray and Grant Helm
coached .the final gam..
• The players .appreciate the 'efforts of
their parents and the coaches who helped
to make the tournament championship
possible.

The personnel committeeis made up of
trustees Wallace, Murray Mulvey of R. R.
1, Clifford, John Elliott. of Blyth and. Mr.
Clarke.
The education committee, is comprised of
Harry Hayter of R. R. 2, Dashwood, Bob
Peck of Varna, .VandenBroeck and Mr.
Jewitt.

The Lancers found themselves short of
• goals as well as players at the end of the
penalty filled game as Mr. Referee
informed several players they were no
longer welcome on the ice.
It was a different story in Drayton as the
locals came home with an easy victory
against some potir goaltending .by Drayton.
Searing for Lucknow were Steve MacPher-
son (2), Kevin Clark (2), Grant Murray (2),
Dave Bear (2), Pat Mprray and •Steve
Simpson with a couple.
Jim McKellar with some fancy foot work
on the new' blades set up three Lancer
goals. Allan Dyck had 'an easy time in net
as he recorded his first shut out of the year.
The Lancers have two tough games this
weekend as they travel to Ripley on Friday
and are at home to Exeter on Sunday.

• The Lucknow Lancers played host to the
Ripley Roosters on the weekend and
although the locals held the lead for most
of the game, Ripley came out on top with a
7 to 6 victory.
Jim Murray opened the scoring and
Larry MacPherson added another as
Lucknow held a. 2 - 1 lead after one period
of play. In the second period Steve Mac-
Pherson scored once and. Jim Murray
picked up two more goals to give. Lucknow
• a 5 4 edge at the end of forty minutes of
play.
•Grant Gilchrist scored early in the third
• but it wasn't enough as the Roosters scored
three straight goals to end the game with a
7 - 6. margin.
Allan Dyck played a steady game in net
for the Lancers turning away all but seven
shots. •
The Lancers will be on the road this
weekend as Gary Dauphin and company
travel to Wingham on Friday and head to
Drayton on Sunday.
The locals will be, trying to snap a three
game losing streak but will have to do it
without the services of Larry MacPherson,
•Paul Hamilton, :Paul Macintyre. and Pat
Murray, who are all on the 21 days injury
list. •
