Lucknow CGIT present$ evening vesper service
Behold! God's Messiah Has Come, was
the theme far the 1985 CGIT Christmas
Vesper service:: Leaders for ,the service
were Brenda Gibson and Bonnie Hender-
son. Brenda Davies accompanied on the
organ for carols and songs.
In the shepherd scene, the grandfather,
Austin Loree and child, Jenny Cooper were
in dialogue about the coming of the
Messiagh. Scripture faders were Colleen
Conley, Debbie Atkinson, Heather Pries-
tap and Amy Gingrich.
Kim Laidlaw and Denise Helm sang,
Twas in the Moon of Wintertime, the
Huron carol written by Father Brebeuf'.
This scene showed how the story of Jesus
was told to, the native people of. . Canada.
The new generation story was written
from ideas su$$ested by the grade 7 group..
The story was read by. Debbie Nicholson in
answer to the song, Hey! Hey! Anybody
Listening?, sung by the CGIT group.
The senior United Church choir sang, In
The Bleak Mid -Winter, while symbols and
offering werebrought forward. Charlene
Conley carried the Bible, the source of
faith; Julie Nicholson brought the creche to
remind 'of the greatest gift and Becky
Ackert brought the candle, symbolizing
hope for the future.
The CGIT choir sang,, Let Everyone Sing,
and then each girl lit a candle. In th e
darkened church, they sang Taps and
Goodnight. •
Ushering and taking. the offering were
Jackie Wilson, Jenny Cooper, Meaghan
Clarke, Tanya Neufeld. and Marlene
Martin. The offering of $106.75 was sent to
the National CGIT Association which
serves groups all across Canada.. ,
A social time followed the service. '

South Kinloss W.M.S. Christmas meet-
ing was held December 4; With the church.
beautifully decorated by the hostesses.
Mrs. Alvin Schmidt and Mrs. Leonard
Machines, all enjoyed a delicious .pot luck
dinner.
The president, . Mrs. John Mowbray,
opened the meeting with a Christmas
poem. Twenty-two members answered the
roll call with a Bible verse with, the word,
gift. There were also four visitors present.
During the business period motions were
passed for 'Mrs. Evan .Keith. to be Ladies
Aid treasurer,,to use money from that fund.
to pay for the Mission and Bible. Study
books and the Christmas treats for the
children. Mrs. Harold .Campb.ell is to. "be
honoured for her thirty-three years as
Ladies Aid. Secretary -treasurer.
Mrs. Allison Ramsay will give the
closing prayer at the annual • meeting of the
Presbyterial In January. The pot luck
dinner and Sunday School program will, be
held December 16.
The offering was received and dedicated
by Mrs. Ramsay. Birthday cards were •
passed and .signed for °Mrs. Harry Lavis
and Mrs. Gib Hamilton, who both have
birthdays' on 'December 4;
The directors,, Mrs.. Clarke Needham and
Mrs. Allison 'Ramsay had a ,special
Christmas service prepared which began
with a poem, Man Cannot Live by Bread
•
Alone, by. Mrs. Ramsay. Carols were sung
throughout the, •program. ,
Taking part in the Prayer Circle were
Mrs. Jerry Mowbray,'Mrs. Frank MacKen-
zie and Mrs. Herb Buckton.
Mrs. Philip Steer .read a poem, Christ-
mas Thoughts. Seven ladies sang, Star of
the East. Mrs. Needham read the scripture
from Luke. 2 and. Mrs. Steer sang, The
Birthday of the King.
Mrs. Ramsay had a fitting 'meditation
telling of how those who saw Jesus were
helped by. Him and: went and told. She
challenged all to go, and tell.
Mrs. Needham gave the courtesies and,
closed themeeting with prayer.
Institute sees slides offlower gardens
The Dungannon Women's Institute held bers and their guests • and extended
their December 6 meeting at the Dungan- Season's Greetings and announced the

land on her accordian which brought the
meeting to a close, with Peg Purdon thank-
ing the Branch Directors.
