• Florence and Wilfred McQuillan 'celebrat-
ed their 50th wedding anniversary on
Saturday, November 3, with a Mass of
Thanksgiving at St Mary's Roman Catho-
hc Lucknow, a family dinner and
an open house at St. Peter's Parish Hall.
Mr and Mrs, McQuillin were married
November 3, 1934 at Sacred Heart Roman
Catholic Church, Teeswater. Celebrating
with them were their four children Sheila of
London; 'Sandy and his wife Luann and
children Robbie and Jamie of Stratford;
Flora Jean and her husband, Joe Murphy
and children, Colleen, Diane and Shawn of
Stratford and Archie and his wife, Muriel
and children, Jim, Dan, Mary and fan of
• Ottawa.

Page and family and other friends there.
Mr, Dan Nicholson who has spent the
past two months at the home of his
daughter, Marion and Don Gillespie, has
gone to stay with Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hunter
for a while.
Visitors with Mr. and Mrs, Tom McDon-
ald were Mrs. Fred Bloomfield of Paisley,
Mrs. Bert Thompson, Teeswater and Mr.
and Mrs. Ken MacDonald ,and family of

Achievement Night at Teeswater on
Thursday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Lloyd and his niother,
Pearl Lloyd of London visited on Tuesday
with Edna and May Boyle and on Sunday
Jean Hodgins of Wingham visited at. the
same home.
On Wednesday Edna and May Boyle
were dinner guests with Marretta Hogins
at Lucknow. „

Word has been received of the 'death of

Mrs. Jerry Opera (the former Mary Anne
Lloyd), daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford
Lloyd, of North Tonawanda, N.Y.; follow-
ing a lengthy illness. Cremation took place
and on Sunday a memorial service was held
in her home church where she was an
active member. The Operas ,came_to, Ahis
•village to celebrate their silver wedding
anniversary a few years ago, as her father,
Cliff Lloyd is a step -brother of William and
Arthur Haldenby of here and Pearl Lloyd of
London is •an aunt. We extend sincere
sympathy to the bereaved family and rela-
tives.
• Agricultural society flea market is successful
The Dungannon. Agricultural Society
held the last general meeting of 1984 at the
hall on Tuesday, November 27, with 13
members attending.
It, was reported that the November 10
Flea Market, held at the hall, was well
received by both buyers and sellers. Seven-
teen tables offered a wide variety of items
while the Dungannon C.G.I.T. looked after
a much enjoyed lunch booth.
• Thirteen representatives, including Fair
Queen • Susan Brindley, 'attended the
annual supper and meeting for Agricultur-
• al Societies in District 8, held in Exeter
November 6. At that time, approximately
300 members voted to have Dungannon
host the 1986 annual meeting. It is hoped

TAKE NOTICE that.the Council of the Village of Ripley will hold a public meeting at
7:30 p.m. on January 7, 1985, in the Ripley Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion,
Jessie Street, to consider a proposed Zonin By -Law, designed to apply to all lands
within the Village of Ripley. This By -Law is intended to regulate the tise of land and
the manner in which buildings and structures are altered and, erected. It is also
designed to repeal all former zoning by-laws passed by the Village Council.
ANY PERSON may attend this meeting and make written or verbal representation
either in support or in opposition to the proposed Zoning By Law
An informal information session will be held from 1:00, p.m. td 5:00 p.m. at the
Legion Hall prior to Council's meeting at 7:30 p.m. Staff of the Bruce County Planning
Department will be present to explain the proposed Zoning By -Law, and to receive
inquiries.

Effective January 1, 1985, the hall' rent
for Stag and Does wilil be increased to
$210.00. The other rental fees' will remain
the same with events with bar casting
$195, events with the Agricultural Society
runnidg the bar and receiving the proceeds
costing $60 and events without a bar
costing $30.
Due to the ever increasing number of
Ininors attending licensed functions, ,it was
decided to check into the possibility of
hiring a security person to assist those who
rent the hall to ' keep things running
snrloothly. Ads will be placed in local
papers.
• Plans for the New Year's Eve Dance
were finalized. "By Special, Request" will
provide music for the dance, held Monday,
December 31 from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. A free
• corsage will be given to the first 10 ladies
'while door prizes and spot dance* will be a
part of the evenings' fun. The menu for the,
midnight meal will include ham, scalloped
potatoes, baked beans, cabbage salad;
relishes and rolls. Tickets are only $15 for a
couple or $7.50 each, so order yours from
any director or call 529-7432 or 529-7956.
