• Originally the recommendation that
board meetings remain closed except to the
press had been included on the "list,
however, Schenk argued successfully that
it should be voted on separately since some
members might want to vote in favor of the
other items on the list but against that one.
Of the other recommendations, only the
one proposing an annual public informa-
tion meeting provided much discussion,
with Kuyvenhoven asking why it was
necessary.
Hayes argued strongly in favor of having
such a meeting, saying it will provide: a
valuable opportunity to present' informa-
tion on the hospital and clear up any
misunderstandings. •
"Maybe nobody will show up, but
there's no harm trying." •
Elects officers
President; Mrs. Frank Hawthorne open-
ed the meeting of the Lucknow Presby-
terian Evening Auxiliary with a poem
entitled, Proof That He Lives. Mrs. Ken
Laidlaw read the scripture and meditation
On the text, Go into all the world and
preach the gospel.
The nominating committee report was
given by Mrs. Bert Gammie who noted that
all offices had been filled for the coming
year.
• Mrs. Noble Johnston conducted - the
installation of officers who include Mrs.
Frank Hawthorne, president; Mrs. Bert
Moffat, first vice president; Mrs. William
Henderson, second vice president; Mrs.
Ronald Forster, third vice president; Mrs.
Norman Taylor, secretary and Mrs. Ross
Gainrnie, treasurer.
Mrs. Morgan Henderson presented .a
Remembrance Day topic .on the theme,
War, Freedom, Love, Mercy. Mrs. Bert
Moffat played a lovely piano solo and the,
meeting closed with a hymn and prayer.
A social half hour was spent over lunch
served by Mrs. George Maclnnes and Mrs.
GiSrdon Lyons.

The Board will be establishing early total French Immersion classes, [Two [2]
locations only GODERICH : ST1tATFORD for pupils entering grades Kidergarten,
Grade 1 and Grade 2, effective September 3, 1985.
In order to register for Kindergarten, children must be five [5] years of age on or
before December 31, 1985. Parents are asked to bring Birth Certificate and Baptismal
Certificate.
Registration forms for [optional] French Immersion class[es] for students now in
Kindergarten and grade one are available through your school. These should be
conipleted at home and returned IN PERSON to your local school principal no later
than Monday, .December 10, 1984.

ASSESSMENT
and your 1985 Municipal and School Taxes
Regional Offices located throughout Ontario are responsible for assessing all real
property for the purposes of municipal and school taxation. The resulting Assessment Rolls are delivered to municipalities which use them
to set their mill rates and compute municipal property tax bills. •
The amount of property tx you pay on your home or business depends on the
assessed value and the mill rate set by your municipality. The assessed value
multiplied by the mill rate will determine your 1985 property taxes.
Open House Sessions •
• Open Houses are your opriortunity to fully
understand your assessment and to evaluate
its equity.,
• Open Houses are held in every municipality
at convenient times and locations, to provide
you with the opportunity to discuss your
assessment with staff of the Regional Assess-
ment Office.
An assessor will be pleased to explain the
basis of your property assessment and is
authorized to amend any information as may be
• necessary prior to the delivery of the Assess-
ment Roll to your municipality.
If you have any questions but are unable to
• attend the Open House, piease contact your
Regional Assessment Office at the address or
- telephone number shown below. •
Assessment Notice
• Property -owners and tenants will receive an
Assessment Notice only if information
• regarding their property or assessment was
changed during the past year, if the assess-
ment was appealed last year, or if the prop-
• erty has been reassessed under section 63

Appeal Procedure •
If, after attending your local Open House, you
are still dissatisfied with your assessment, you
have a right to appeal it to the Assessment .
Review Board. The Assessment Review Board
conducts informal hearings and is responsible
for determining whether the assessment under
appeal is fair and equitable with the assess-
ments of similar properties in the vicinity or
neighbourhood, and may alter your assess-
ment adcordinglY. •
Appeal Deadline
The final date for appealing your assessment
is January 9, 1985.
Your appeal must be forwarded, either on a
Notice of Appeal Form or as a letter, to the'
Regional Registrar of the Assessment Review
Board on or before January 9, 1985, noting your
property address, RpII Nurnber and he reason
for the appeal. '

able at Open Houses, your Regional Assess-
