Last week the Lucknow ladies broomball
team' moved into sole ownership of first
place in the Blyth Broomball League,
The team posted two victories, to improve
its season record to five wins and no losses.
Lucknow has only scored nine goals in its
games thus far, but has allowed their op-
position not a single goal in the five outings.
On Nov. 6, Lucknow defeated defending
league champion 13elgrave by recordinga 1-
0 overtime victory. Arlenel'urnerscored the
game winning goal, with the assist going to
Donna Drerutan.'
Lucknow continued their strong defensive
effort on Nov. 8 and made Donna Drennan's
goal, midway through the first period, stand
up for a 1-0 triumph over the. Blyth Bain-
toneers. Rose Weber picked tip an assist on
the game's only goal, Lucknow:s fourth 1-0
victory this season.
In further action. on Nov. 6, Pat Cronin
connected for two goals and one assist in the
Blyth Inn Bandits' 5-0 shutout over the
Goderich Oarsmen. Single goals went to
Scott Machan, Greg cook and Murray
Black, while Cam Cook and Ronald Ritchie
picked up one assist each.
In a battle of the Goderich ladies' teams,
the Harbourlites edged the Knight Riders by.
a score of 3-2. Debbie Mitchehnore gave the
Knight Riders an early 1-0 lead. However,
the Harbourlites, went, ahead 2-1 on Deb
Powell's •unas.sisted effort and Penny
Crawford's goal from Kim Vanstone. The
Knight Riders tied the score when Debbie
Mitchehnore set up Annabel Stewart, but
the Harbourlites regained their one goal
lead on Vicki Abbott's powerplay goal.
Lanesville Lords got two goals and one
assist from Duke Drennan, en route to a 5-1
victory over the Clinton •Warriors. Ian
'Hackett, Nic Beyersbergen and Willy Hen-
dricks scored one goal apiece for the Lords,
with single assists going to Steve 'Howard
and David Hanna. Tim de Weerd set up Don
Dimaline for the Warriors' lone goal.
Three first period goals carried the
Lakelet Millets to a' 4-1 triumph over the
Maitland Dirt Riders. The Hornets got
single goals from Bill de Vos, SteveDouglas,
Kent Howatt and Gary Hesselwood, while
Phil Black, John Kreller and Bill de Vos col-
lected one assist each. The Dirt Riders' goal
came off the broom of Roy Jacobs,' with the
assist going to Hank Pardys.• '
On Nov. 8, two goals each by Larry Sower -
by and Randy Larrunerant led the Blyth
Bears to a 7-0 romp over the Auburn
Falcons. Single goals went to John Bird,
Pete Kohnert and Steve Cook. In the assist
departthent, John Bird picked up two, while
• Randy Lanunerant, Clare Weber, •Don
Nicholson and Terry Sowerby added one
each. _
• 'Kevin Pennington, Doug Cousins and
Jerry Bremner scored one goal each to lead
the Maitland Dirt Riders to a 3-0 shutout
over the Goderich Oarsmen. Assists for the
Dirt Riders went to Ken Pennington with
two and Roger Humphries added one.
Three goals' andlone assist by Chris Moore
led Auburn to a 7-0 triumph over Yogi's
• Girls. Also, for Auburn Betty Jane 'Foran
picked up two goals and one assist, Marg.
Foran and Doreen Jefferson had one goal
and one assist each, and,Tresa Bromley and
•,Cathy Brown added one assist apiece.
In a close, checking defensive battle the
Lucky Devils edged defending champion 8th
Liners by a score of 1-0. John Beadle scored
the game's only goal midway through the
first period, with the assist going to Dave
The Blyth Bears continued their
climb to one of the top spots in the Blyth
BROOMBALL
SCORES
Broomball League this past week, as they
remained in, fourth place but moved to
• within one point of first. So far this year the
Bears have .lost three games, however only
one of, those defeats has come in regulation
time. The team's strong showing this year is
due to -a balanced scoring attack, in which
eight player have shared in the teatn's fif-
• teen goals: •
• Defensively, the Bears have allowed only
seven goals in regulation play in &seven
games,
On November 13, the : ears took on the
undefeated Lucky De ' ll. The two teams
played to a scoreless , draw in regulation
time, due mainly to the outstanding goalten-
ding displayed •by the Bears Kevin
Falconer. In overtime, the Devils took a 1-0
lead, as the league's top scorer Rodger For-
syth connected for the game winner, with
the 'assist going to John Beadle. An in-
surance goal by 'John Beadle from Mike
Schtunacher, gave the Devils their 2 - 0 vic-
tory. •

On November 15, the Bears got single
goals from Steve Cook, John Bird and Larry
Sowerby to post a 3 - 0 shutout over the Clin-
ton Warriors. Gary .picked up two
assists for the Bears; while Terry Sowerby
added one.
• In further action on November 13, Randy
Boyer set up Richard Miller for the game's
only goal, as the Goderich Oarsmen slipped
past the Clinton Warriors 1 - .0. Glenn
McLean posted the Oarsmen's first shutout
this year.
• Yvonne Cronyn recorded her third shutout
this season as the Auburn ladies pulled off a
1 - 0 triumph_ over Brussels. Marg Foran
• scored the „Alikurn goal early in the' second
frame, with the assist to Betty Bromley.
• Lanesvillerds, led by Jim Van Osch's
two goals and ipe assist, knocked, off the
Blyth Inn Bandits 5 - 0. Duke Drennan and
Steve Howard added a goal and an assist
each, while Ian Hackett added one goal, and
Greg Hackett and Shawn Drennan had one
assist each. ••
On November 15, Lori •Hesselwood con-
nected for four goals to lead the Blyth Bain-
toneers to a 6 - 0 victory over yogi's /Girls,
• ,Becky Hamm picked up a goal arid two
assists for the winners, while Marg Kroes
netted one goal, and Joanne Reinhart,
Shivon Youngblut and Judy Mason collected
•
one assist apiece.
The 8th Liners grabbed'a 2 -0 first period
• lead, however they needed a goal with 12
seconds left in the game, to defeat the
Lakelet Hornets 3 - 2. Herb Govier scored
two goaLs including the game *inner for the
8th Liners, with Gordon Machan adding a
goal and an assist, and Arnold Pease two
assists. For the Hornets, Phil Black picked
up one'goal and an assist, 'while Doug de
Boer had one goal and Ron de Boer an
• •
assist. ••
Sheila Walker set up Jane Vath for the
game's only goal as Lucknow, edged the
Goderich Harbourlites 1 - 0; Sheila Hunter's
sixth shutout this season.
•Second period goals by Brian Argyle and
Roy Fisher, lifted the Auburn Falcons to a 2
- 0 ,win over the Goderich Oarsmen. Single ,
•assists in the game went to Allan MeWhin-
hey and Terry Powell.
P.S. Congratulations to the Lucknow
ladies broornball team which lost 1 - 0 to the
• Competition Cougars in the "A" 'champion-
ship game of the Palmerston tournament.
