Edmonton couple Out friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Webster of Edmon-
ton visited last Sunday with the Mauldens
and were dinner guests with. Mr. and Mrs.
Stewart Lane and family and Mr. and Mrs.
HughLane and Blaine, They also called on
Mrs., John Barr.
Pearl Scott of London has been visiting,
with Winnifred Percy and on Tuesday Mrs.
John Barr, Edna and May Boyle were
dinner guests and enoy,ed .a nice. visit
together.
On Monday Jean Hodgins and Norma
Coutts of Wingham visited with. Edna and
May and enjoyed a -birthday dinner as the
hostesses and Norma all have October
birthdays.
On Wednesday Mrs. Bill Butt had 15
friends for a pot luck dinner and all quilted
on, a• lovely quilt. Later birthday cake, Ice
cream and punch were served as it was
Edna's birthday. All signed her birthday
card and Edna expressed her thanks for the
lovely party and kind wishes from •all
present. -
It was so good to have .Mr. and Mrs. Ed •
Green call on friends- in the village on
Thursday. We are pleased that Thelma is
steadily. improving after having suffered a
stroke eight months ago.

MacPherson attended the prey Bruce area
convention at Chesley. . •
Mrs. William MacPherson and Mrs.
;Weir Eckenswiller have gone west to 'visit
with relatives. :

Mr. and .Mrs. Howard Whiteside and
Marjorie Bennett of !Toronto spent the
weekend here with their father, Arthur
Haldenby.
Ladies from" here attended the bridal
shower at Kinloss Community Centre on
Wednesday evening/ for Vicki Young.

Mr. • and Mrs. Tom McDonald of here
and her sister, Essie Bloomfield, who is
visiting here, went to Walkerton Hospital
on Sunday to see their father, Joseph
Guest. We' send get well wishes.

Sunday evening with Edna and May Boyle.
Charles Murray of Picture Butte, Alberta
and Margaret Murray of Montreal have
been visiting with the Murray families
here. On Sunday a family gathering was

Murray and family at Lucknow.

Mrs. Grant Farrish Welcomed the ladies
and guests of the Ashfield W.M.S. to her
home on October 18 for their meeting.
Mrs. Farrish opened the meeting With a
Thanksgiving poem. The Thanksgiving
worship service from the Glad. Tidings was.
followed with Mrs. Stuart MacLennan,
Mrs. Russell Swan, Mrs. Donald Simpson
and Mrs. Grant Farrish taking part with
Mrs. Richard West playing for the hymns,
The Glad Tidings reports was given by
Mrs. Warren Wylds.'
Mrs. •Stuart MacLennan introduced the
guest speaker • for the evening, Mrs.
•William Henderson. • Mrs. Henderson
showed slides of Malawi; Africa and told of
the customs of the people living there. She
told 'of her daughter, -Clara's work in the
field of music with the Malawipeople. The
ladies heard a tape of the singing of the
people, a couple of them were Scottish
hymns, done in the native Way. • Mrs. •
Henderson showed several articles' from
Malawi including some beadtiful material.
The roll call was • answered •with a
Thanksgiving verse. •_ •'
• Mrs. Henry MacKenzie conducted the
•businest portion of the meeting. The
• meeting closed with prayer and lunch was '
.served.
