Three weeks ago, today, on Wednesday,
August .8th; •Ab ' Wylds remarked about a

through Ripley and asked when wasthe last
time such a load. was seen.here
- Since then Lynn Courtney brought here a
piece of faded brown cardboard with names
and 'figures on it. Here are some 'of the
names - Sam Pollock, Alex McAuley, Grant
McLennan, Dan McDonald, Wes Thompson,
John Reid, Bert Walden, Bert Mason, Wrn.
Jackson, John Wilds, John McMurchy,,..Bill
• McKay, Sam. Swan, Eli Morgan; and about
20more' names: Of those named all are ,now
deceased but two namely Alex McAuley. of
Ripley' and Grant. MacLennan .of, Listowel -
and at the ,time of the list' April'12 to 21, 1946
they lived one block south and one block east
from Ripley on the sixth concession, east' at

It was our, first intention to say that it was
a• listing for .coal deliveries. However' fur-
ther examination of the list shows the
figures two, twelve, . six. (2-12-6) shown... So
now we feel •it• represented fertilizer. The .
card was discovered on.the recent remodell-
ing of : the coal shed by workmen for Harold
Courtney to make it into storage of , seed
grain.
