Visitors with Ann and Don McCosh during
the week - Aurel and Marj Armstrong, Cur-
rie Colwell and Jim and Isabel Brook. ,
Visitors with Jack and Janet Farrell were
Courtney and Susan. MacDonald, London.
Sunday the annual Colwell picnic and reu-
nion was held at the Farrell, home when• 65
people attended from Strathroy,
Mississauga, . Kincardine, London and
Ripley. Mrs. Ada. Farrell who is 93 years en-
joyed the day with relatives and friends.
Dorothy Bell, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Bell from
Rochester, Mich. spent the weekend with
Katherine Collins. • ,
Sunday visitors at the Collins home were'
Marg and Merrald Kuel, Waterloo, Sanda
and Ed McGillivray, Kelly and Kristy,
Margie Lockhead, Shannon and Rachel.
Mr. and .Mrs. Tom Cole, •Cameron and
Christopher visited . with Mrs. Cote, Point
Clark on Tuesday. and Saturday Mr. Pierre
Cote from Montreal visited.during the week
at the same honies.
Christina and Carmen Farrell spent the
weekend with their grandparents Mr. and
Mrs: Logtenberg,
Mrs, Donald MCCosh visited on Monday ..
with Winnie Percy and K1nlough friends, .
Mr. and. Mrs. Earl Elliott visited with
Irene Elliott, who is a patient in the extend-
ed Care Walkerton hospital.
Paul and. Keith Elliott; Ferndale Mich,,
Stephen and Janice Elliott Lea and Lyn
from Minden, spent the weekend with June
and Earl Elliott.
Kim "Little • visited on Saturday with
Teresa Elliott.
Catherine Scott visited, on Friday in Kin-
cardine with Mr. and Mrs. Millar Hartwick,
her . daughter Frances Watke visited with
her on Thursday.
Mr. and Mrs. Norval Stanley had their
grandchildren Jorey Helm and Deon Doupe
with them for holidays.
Hold Parrish picnic in Ashfield
The 23rd annual Farrish family picnic was
held under sunny, skies on Sunday, August 5
at the `farm of Jack and Mary . Parrish,
Ashfield Township. Approximately 50.
people were in attendance:
Prior to a smorgasbord supper,. Wes and
Marie Dignan conducted games and
contests. The ,children's. races were won as
follows: _ Kim Farrish, girls 5-8 years; Mark
Nobert, boys 0-4 years; Mathew Hoy, boys 5-
8 years; and Chris Farrish, boys.9-12 years.
Darlene Shelton won ,the ladies', kick -the -
slipper' and Jim Fairish won the men's kick -
the -slipper. Hilda '. Farrish guessed the
correct number of jelly beans in the bag.
Nicole Nobert, daughter of Marcel and
Alma .Nobert, was the youngest child
present at the picnic: Dave McLeod was the
eldest man present and -Hilda Farrishwas
the eldest lady present.
Don and Brenda McLeod and children,,
Heather and Ian, from Manitoba, were the
family travelling the furthest distance to the
picnic.
Dale and Betty Farrish had the wedding
anniversary date closest to the picnic and
Maxine Adams, had the closest birth date.
Bob Farrish won a prize for having the most
number of buttons on his clothing.
Following supper, a. short business
meeting was .held. Jim Farrish was re-
elected president for next year's picnic and
Joanne Buchanan was re-elected secretary -
treasurer: Wes and Marie Dignan will look
after the games, prizes and candy scramble
again.
The 1985 picnic will be :held at the same
location on the first Sunday in August.

Recent visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Allan
Cranston were Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Hurt
and family, of Elmira. •
Get well wishes are extended to Gordon
Lyons who is hospitalized at the Alexandra
Marine and. General Hospital in Goderich:
Mr. . and Mrs. Don Taylor and family
attended the Hoyle family reunion. held in
Gibbons Park, London on Sunday. Debbie
McRoberts and Dave Stranks returned with
them for a short visit. •
Mr: and Mrs. Allan, McDonald hosted a pig -
• roast for friends, neighbours and relatives.
The pig was donated by area. hunters. '
Weekend visitors with Mr.. and Mrs. Tom
Pegg were Mr. and Mrs. Larry Johnston Sr,
of Ancaster; Luvia, Glen and Chris Treftlin
of Oakville;. CArI Treftlin of Calgary; Mary
Ellen and .Mary Lou Pierce of Stoney Creek;
Ron'. Pierce of Lobden; Michelle Black of
Burlington; Kevin, Joanne and Suzanne
Andrew of Hamilton; Rick, Kathy, Teresa,
Chris and Kevin Silliker of Hamilton; Lynn,
Leo and Jonathon Andrew of London; Amy
• Nusink of London and Larry Johnston. Jr..
and. Peggy Burton of Ancaster. Mr. and Mrs.
Johnston and Mr. and Mrs. Andrew of
London remained with the Peggs for part of
the week.

St. Helens W.I.
St. Helens Women's . Institute held a
potluck supper with 10 members and three
visitors present. Education and cultural ac-
tivities was the theme.
' President Mrs. John Strutton • was in
charge. Secretary -treasurer Mrs. Lloyd.
Moffat gave the minutes of the last meeting
followed by the treasurer's report.
Debbie Rintoul, . Beverly Aitchison and
Brenda Grigg presented a show of Luba's
Fashions for cabbage patch dolls. 4-H
leadership class was discussed by Mrs.
Leroy Rintoul. Mrs. John Strutton will be in
charge. The Bicentennial project for
Lucknow.Fair was discussed.
Following. adjournment some of the ladies
went to Nile United Church as guests of
Dungannon Women's Institute to . hear
Lenore Bradley of Goderich speak on her re-
cent trip to China, which was very much en-
joyed.
