Maid of honor was ' Heather Blake, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Janet Wilkins of Wallaceburg, sister of the groom and Jannet Trewartha of Mid dlemiss, . sister of the bride.'' Elizabeth Wilkins, sister of the groom was the organist and Jannet Trewartha.; was soloist. Best man was Bill Wilkins, brother of the groom. Guests were ushered into the church by Ken Wilkins, . brother of the groom and Larry Blake, brother of the bride. The chain sawing com- petition, , bale .throwing, log . sawing with a cross -cut saw and arm wrestling round out the•evening's events. ' Saturday brings the English and Western Horse Show and the Heavy Horse Show star- ting at 10:30 a.m. and continuing throughout the day. At noon the parade will leave: the 'United Church corner and' travel north on main street and west to the Agricultural grounds. At 1 p.m. the horseshoe pitching competi- tion commences with mixed doubles class. The 4-H judging starts at 1:30 and bicycle races will be held on the track at 2:30; The three classes for the bicycle races will be: seven years of age and under, -eight to 12. years of age and13 years and over. Also. at 2:30 is Ufa baby show. Babies must be registered in advance at the hall. Special classes.for twins are a new feature this ' year. At 3 p.m. young and old, alike can enjoy the watermelon seed spitting contest. During the afternoon, musical entertain- ment ntertainment will be supplied by the Nine -Mile. ' River Boys featuring Doug Young, Don Dickson, Brian Petrie and Kelly Brindley.. Clowns,. children's games, a midway and food booths will all be a part of the days' events. Th draw for a beautiful "Gooey," Bridge set, featuring a round table and four thickly padded chairs covered in plush corduroy, ,will be made at3:30 p.m. The Dungannon. The blessing was given by K.K. Dawson ;before all present enjoyed the potluck dinner. A beautiful 3rd anniversary cake was provided by Crust and Crumb' bakery, while this was being served: birth- day greetings were extended to. Gertie Park and. Margaret Pritchard., Thetables were adorned with beautiful summer flowers. Games . were under ' the supervision . of social convener Margaret Errington. Margaret Pritchard led the singing for the sing song, with Roberta Liriskill accompa- nying on the accordion. Five tables of euchre were enjoyed by those thiatremained later. Marie Park and Brad and Cora Sherwood and Lois Kerr enjoyed .a day trip to many. points of interest in the Niagara Falls area Including Marinelandon.. a bus tour last week. Little Catherine Brindley celebrated her fourth birthday in a big way on Friday, Aug. third: with a party attended by hergrand- parents and her aunts and uncles. Catherine has the distinction of . having 13 grand- parents with five generations living on her mother's side: • '• Enjoy :Ashfield variety concert A very successful evening was held. on Saturday, June 28 when the council of Ashfield Township arranged a Bi - Centennial Variety Night Coneert which was held at the Ashfield Public Works Garage. The concert itself was excellent. The participants were excellent. Everyone enjoyed it. Rhe_tta MacLennan had her daughter and son-in-law, Bruce and Louise : Millar of Palenerston visit the other day.. Visitors with George and Betty Moncrief on the weekend were Mabel Treat, her daughter and husband, Lyle and Barbara Brumley and three , grandchildren of Chicago, Illinois. We would like to welcome Barry and Bet- ty Jones and their two daughters into the community. Mr. and Mrs. Jones have mov- ed to the Ross MacKenzie farm. • Sunday was an eventful day at Pine River United Church. The Bible, used over 100 years ago in the first Pine River Church, was returned to the church: The Bible was saved from the original church when it was destroyed by a forest fire. and has been in the MacDonald family since.
