Upon request I. am -reporting on Huron
County's first Farm Crisis Summit meeting
held in Ashfield Township. The meeting was '
undoubtedly a great success for out 'of the .six
groups invited to speak, all actively particip-
ated except Concerned. Farm Wom en which
had to cancel' at the .last minute; although
they . were supportive of the concept '
Upon welcoming about 50 farmers and
wives.to the meeting, I gave a report from all
M.P. and M.P.P. and expressed your
support for such a. meeting and your reasons
for not being able *attend because of prior
engagements.
Not actively farming because of the deep °
depression which has wiped out so many
young beef .farmers to -day, yet coming up
through the farm groups in the seventies, ' I
have been active in National Farmers Union,
Ontario Federation of , Agriculture and
Canadian Farm Survival Association, ' all
having a just cause. • • .

Thank you Mr./Mrs. Editor for helping
the. L.H.Z.R.A. inform your Lucknow sub-
scribers about Sportsfest '84..
Yours very truly,
Keith Davidson.
I• will now concentrate on bringing them
together on a single front to face ' the
severeity of the major. •problem, united. Yes,
Solidarityis indeed the word today. w
Brian Ireland of O.F.A. suggested all farm
groups forget their diffrences and work
toiether. Father Paul Mooney of Catholic
Rural Life spoke of social justice and of being
a self sufficient nation of which we are
supportive. Bill Jogejan of C.F.F. said there
is a need for debt reduction in some cases to .
young Tarmers. Lloyd Willert N.F.U. said as
it stands now, the provinces are fighting
each Bother, which leaves Willert believing
farmers "are just too greedy." I believe you
all know what A'ilen. Wilford had to say, We
must -save the family farm at , all cost, ' by
stopping Farm Foreclosures by banks and
F.C.C. Allen spoke on parity pricing and
said the creation ofnew wealth by members
of ' the farming ' community would benefit
all ,of society.
Hopefully this . may lead to a major
Coalition Summit meeting on a provincial,
level. •
Yours in solidarity,
Cletus Dalton.
