'presented donations to the .Maitland Valley Conservation Foundation at Wawanosh Lake July 12, to finalize the acqUisition of the property purchased by the Maitland Valley Conservation Authority. ' The 200 acres of rolling hills and water filled lowlands was purchased for $210,000 in 1978. The Ministry of Natural Resources funded $160,000 for the purchase of 'Lake • Wiwanosh, leaving the Maitland Authority • to raise the outstanding S50,000. • Maitland Conservation Foundation has Cnoducted fund raising efforts for; the local share of the projea cost as funds were to be • raised outside the local tax levy. • Charles Sauriol of the Nature Conservancy of Canada, the only national non-profit organization of its kind devoted solely to the preservation of environmentally importint lands, has been instrumental ii contacting • donators for Lake Wawanosh.
