OBITUARY
R. GORDONDERENNAN,
It Gordon Drennan of Ashfield Township
;died Thursday, May 17 in Alexandra Marine
and General Hospital, Goderich at the age of
`93
[' He was bbTh n Ashfield Tow"`lriship on
!October 2, 1890 to Robert and Annie
(Mclvor) Drennan.
The late Mr. Drennan farmed in Ashfield
Township and was 'a member of Ashfield
!Presbyterian Church. Be was also a.
member of Old Light Lodge no. 184 A.F. &
A.M., •Lucknow for the past 63 years.
He was predeceased by his wife, Ella
;MacDonald, - one daughter Lorraine; three
sisters and two brothers.
<'He is survived by two sons, Don and John,
:both of Ashfield Township; one sister, Mrs.
=Harold ( Pearl) Evans of Lacombe, Alberta;
:one, grandson, David and ,one great-
;grandda ughter, Dawn.
A funeral service was held at .McCallum
!Funeral Home in Goderich on Saturday,
;May 19 at 2 p.m. The Reverend Hugh Nugent
of Ashfield Presbyterian Church officiated.
Pallbearers were Stuart MacLennan,
Kenneth MacLennan, Fred Vassella, John
;MacKay, William Johnston and Allan
:Johnston.
Old Light Lodge no. 184 held a Masonic
memorial service at .the funeral home on
,Memorial
evening, May 18.
Interment Was in Kintail Cemetery.

Rev. and Mrs. Scott attended the London
afonference of United Church of Canada at
tt. Thomas last weekend. The Youth Group
ironducted the morning worship at Trinity,

Congratulations to Brian Hackett, who
graduated from Ridgetown Agricultural
;College on May 18. His parents, Lorne and

the ceremonies. Brian is working at Ridge -

John Richardson and Barry, on the sudden
death •Sunday of he husband. The Richard-
son family of Willowdale have a summer
home at the lake, east on concession 12,
here.
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Fry of H.arriston
and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Haldenby of Guelph
visited with their parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Wm. E. Haldenby on Sunday.

Pitch - In Day was held at Ripley Huron
Central School following a week's delay due
to poor weather. Each class was assigned a
different area of the school grounds and the
village of Ripley to clean up. The students
found the areas ' they visited were quite
clean. '
Family Picnic
• On May 24 a family picnic was held at the
school. This activity was planned as part of
the school's observance' of Family Unity
Month in May.' Many families braved the
windy weather to take part.
Following the meal, helium balloons were
released into the air. It " is hoped• some of
these balloons will be found and the students
will hear about their destinations.
Everyone was then invited to participate
in games of soccer or slo-pitch. Other events
included young children's gan)es and para-
chute activities
Projector course
It is now mandatory that all persons
borrowing 16MM Projectors from Libraries
in Bruce County must have a Projectionist
Card.
An opportunity is being given on June 4,
1984 for you to obtain this, The course will
be at 7.30 p.m. in the Lucknow Branch
Library.
The fee for this course is $3.00 per person.
Please register in advance at the library.
