H. Gordon Drennan of Ashfield Township
died Thursday, May 1/ in Alexandra Marine
and General Hospital, Goderich at the age of
93. • . •
He was bbfirinAshfield ThWlhip on
October 2, 1890 to Robert and Annie
(McIvor) Drennan.
The late Mr. Drennan farmed in A.shfield
• Township and was "a member of Ashfield
Presbyterian Church:, was also a
Member of Old Light Lodge no.. 184 A.F.
A.M., Lucknow for the past 63 years.
He was predeceased by his wife, Ella
MacDonald; one daughter Lorraine; three
sisters and two brothers.
He is survived by two sons, Don and John,
both of Ashfield Township; one sister, Mrs.
Harold (Pearl) EVans.of Lacombe, Alberta;
• one grandson, David and one great-
granddaughter, Dawn.
A funeral service was held at McCallum
Funeral Home in Goderich on Saturday,
May 19 at 2 p.m. The Reverend Hugh Nugent
o Ashfield Presbyterian Church officiated.
Pallbearers were Stuart MacLennan,
Kenneth MacLennan, 1'red Vassella, John
MacKay, William Johnston and Allan
Johnston.
Old Light Lodge no.; 184 held a Masonic
memorial service at the funeral home on
Friday evening,. May 18. \
Interment was in Kiritail Cemetery.

Rev. and Mrs. Scott attended the London
Conference of United Church of Canada at
St. Thomas last weekend. The Youth Group
conducted the morning worship at Trinity
and their ministry was about "Decisions in
Life".
Congratulations to Brian' Hackett, who
graduated from kidgetown Agricultural
College on May 18. His parents, Lorne and
Hazel Hackett and Brenda and Mac attended
the ceremonies. Brian is working at Ridge -
town .
Russell and Jean Phillips; Fred and
Brenda, and Ken and Mary, visited on
Sunday in London with Girvin Reed, who,is a
• patient at University Hospital. Our get well
wishes 'go out to Girvin. They also visited
with Lorne Emmerton at Kerwood, for the
afternoon.
Jean Burk of Blenheim spent a Week with
her friend, Margaret Andrew and John.
and Pam, Shelley and Julie of Niagara Falls
have returned home following a visit with
Marretta Hodgins, and Darryl. Phoebe
Stanley is visiting with Marretta now.
• Sympathy is extended to' Mrs. Arthur
Richardson and her' family, Mr. and Mrs.
John Richardson and Barry, on the sudden
death Sunday of her husband., The Richard-
son family of Willovvdale have a summer
home at the lake, east onl concession 12,
here.
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Fry of Harriston
and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Haldenby of Guelph
visited with their parents, •Mr. and Mrs.
Wm. E. Haldenby on Sunday.

Pitch - In Day was held at Ripley Huron.
Central School -following a week's delay due
to poor weather. Each class was assigned a
different area of the school grounds and the
village of Ripley to clean up. The students
found the areas they visited were quite
clean.
Family Picnic
• On May 24 a family picnic was held at the
school.. This activity was planned as part of
the school's observance of Family Unity
Month in May. Many families. braved the
windy weather to take part.
• Following the meal, helium balloons were
released into the air. It is hoped some of
these balloons will be found and the stuients
•will hear about their destinations.
Everyone was then invited to participate
in games of soccer or slo-pitch. Other events
included young children's ganpes and .para-
chute activities.
Projector course
It is now mandatory that all persons
h,orrowing 16MM Projectors, from Libraries
in Bruce County must have a Projectionist
Card:
An opportunity is being given on June 4,
1984 for you to obtain this. The course will
be, at 7.30 p.m. in the Lucknow Branch
Library.
The fee for this course is $3.00 per person.
Please register in advance at the library.
