• The history of Mother's Day was given as
the topic by Mrs. Elliott. Mrs. Purdorr gave a
Mrs. Elliott, who also gave the closing
prayer. •
The Ladies Aid met following the meeting.
The finaneiai statement was given by Mrs.
Falconer who reported $156.95 from
Young's sale. Estimates on installation of a
bath tub and carpenter work at the manse-
' were given by Mrs. Falconer. It was decided
to hire C. Mann. It was also decided to paint
the church basement floor in August. Mrs.
Lamb and Mrs.. Falconer are to choose the
paper for thei manse bathroom. Wax and
lemon oil are to be piiiirchased for the church.

includes Mrs. Gaunt, Mrs. Rintoul and Mrs.
.Bill Purdon.
Mrs. Purdon. and Mrs. Elliott served
dessert. Mrs. Rintoul gave the courtesy

• Mrs. Harvey Houston played the piano as
the ladies gathered on :Tuesday" evening,

May 22 for the, general meeting. Mrs:
Vernon Hunter welcomed everyone and
followedwith prayer.
• The program was turned over to Mrs.
Robert Iwin, the convener of the Leadership
DiVision and she was assisted by the,others
on this committee. ,
Mrs. Glen Walden led prayer.. The
scriptures were read by Mrs. Evans Helm,
and the meditation, , Babel and Pentecost,
was taken by Mrs. Irwin and the prayer by
Mrs. Walden., The, offering, was taken by
Mrs. Alex Andrew andEdna McDonald and
dedicated by Mrs. Eldon Bradley. Mrs.
Irwin gave an interesting presentation on
how to make the programs more interesting
and worthwhile. '
Mrs. • Harvey Houston, • as -archivist, -
displayed thepresent book she was keeping
up to date with clippings, pictures, etc. with
all activities in the U.C.W. and the church.
•Mrs. Hunter presided for the business.
Mrs. Stuart Reavie gave the treasurer's
report. The correspondence was read by
Mrs. Bradley and convener reports were
given. Mrs. Hunter announced there would

be a retreat at' Silver Lae on June 11 with
the theme "Break Away".
Mrs. Glen Waiden displayed many of the
books which are ;available in the resource
centre, for members touse, to .plan their
programs. Mrs. Evans told of her work on
the membership 'committee • and Mrs.
Walden told how the nominating committee
carried out their responsibility.
See granddaughter act as page in legislature
• Wilbertanel Myrtle•MacDonald 'and Ricky
of Kincardine were down tit Queen's Park on
Friday to watch the legislature, where their
• granddaughter. Tammy has been acting as a
page for the last four weeks. Tammy .is also
• the granddaughter, of Harvey and Wilda
Thompson.
A few from Purple Grove attended the
reception for the newlyweds, Mr. and Mrs.
Delbert Dore, held at Holyrood.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Young of Dungannon,
were dinner guests- of Mr. and Mrs. Harvie
Thompson Saturday night.
Rodney Sutton was down to Kitchener on
the weekend, where he picked up his new
trumpet. Everyone will be' expecting a
recital for the Purple Grove Bi-Centetmial
Picnic held in August.
Mr. and Mrs.. Francis Boyle spent this
weekend in London.
Visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Donald Robert-
son of Purple Grove on .Thursday evening
were Martha McIver of' Ripley, Mrs. Guy
Romsay of Toronto, Margaret Robinson of
Toronto, and Dorothy Collins of Lucknow. -
Visiting withMr. and Mrs. Jack 'Farrell
this weekend were Courtney and Susan
MacDonald of London..
Bob and Marion Emmerson received

• Folks attended the wedding of .Kelly Fit-
zgerald and Charles Bondi Saturday, held in
the Kinlough Pentecostal Church.

, A trousseau tea held in honour of Sandra
Reid, on. Sat., May 26 from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m.
was well attended.
Linda White of Clawson Michigan was the
Weekend guest of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Elliott.
