April 28 to May 1 Science exhibits were on
display at the Science Fair in which all
students particiapted. Winners include
primary division: Jay .Riegling, first, Lisa
Dystrka; second; Tom and Mark Chilton,
third; junior division, Sarah Brophy, first;
prenda Van Osch, second;Sandra, Van Osch,
third; senior division, Agnes Van Osch, first;
isa Card and Colleen Van Osch, second;
Wendy Miltenburg, third, Congratulations
to all contestants.
On May 2 the annual Garvey Public
Speaking contest, of skits, poems and
impromptus was held. The winners were as
follows: junior, grade 4, first, Jarod Boily;
second, Linda -Rose Bowler; third, Dean
Riegling; grade 5, first, Bryan Olson;
second, Connie O'Connor; third, Chris
Eedy; grade 6, first, Brenda Van Osch,
second, Jennifer Martin; third, Rhonda
Hogan; grade 7, first,. Christine Connelly;
second, Lisa Smith third, Vince Doherty;
grade 8, first, Mary Anne Franken; second,
Agnes Van Osch; third, Sean Wilson.

Arbour Day was observed May 9. with the
planting of a tree on the school grounds. The
tree was donated by Bernardine Kinney.
KINGSBRIDGE
COMMENT
On May 6 the Cubs, Beavers, Brownies
and Guides planted 75 white pine trees
around the school yard to commemorate
Ontario's Bicentennial.
Congratulations to the three students who
traveled to Stratford to a chess tournament.
Although they didn't win, they had . a good
time.
On June 8 the, senior grades will be going
to Maple tb Canada's Wonderland. On May
22 the grade 7 and 8 class hadan enjoyable
day of retreat in preparation for confirmation
on June 5, at 730 p.m. in Kingsbridge
Church. May Crowning will be .held at
Kingsbridge Church on the last Sunday of
May< .
The annual "Big Foot" run has been held.
Congratulations everyone for running in less
than two weeks. Field day will be held May
29. The regional will be held at Goderich
District Collegiate Institute on June "11.
Congratulations again to the two boys who
won first and second in a bike race at
Klompen Feest, Tommy Hogan and Ray
Dalton.
Students hold pioneer day

Huron Dairy Princess,, Muriel Huth of
Clifford spoke to the students Thursday. She
is sponsored by the. Ontario Milk, Producers.
'She showed a film, The Zoosters and talked
about how milk fits into the four food groups.
Friday was Pioneer Day in Mrs. Worsell's
grade 3 class. Students and teachers dresseci
in old fashioned clothes: They had a meal of
pork and beans, homemade bread and butter
and apple crisp made by students with help
from Mrs. Webster, who made butter, Mrs.
Wilkins, who made bread and Mrs. Roberts,
who helped make apple crisp, Their help was
greatly appreciated.'
Mrs.Carroll's class went to the Huron
County Board of Education office on Wed-
nesday afternoon and Mr. Dave Rieman
helped them, use the computers.
Mrs. Tebbutt's class planted some tomato
seeds for Mother's Day.
Mr. Cameron's class is starting the novel,
Johnny Tremain. They enjoyed hot dogs on
Thursday for lunch.
Mrs. Graham's class had hot dogs on
Friday.
The students are happy to announce their
French teacher, Joanne Bode, is getting
married on June 16 to Dennis Drennan. Very

Mr. Errington's grade 5 class and Mrs.
Carroll's class went to .Doon Pioneer Village
near Kitchener on Tuesday:
Mrs. Bere's grade 2 reading group put .on
a puppet play, Peter and the Wolf, for Mrs:
Blanchette's grade 2 class on Friday.
Mrs. Allen's grade 1 class is studying
dinosaurs, doing research in the library, and
printing booklets.
Constable Marshall from the O.P.P. spoke
to grades 6, 7 and 8 on Tuesday. His talk
dealt with changes in the law referring the
use of off road vehicles such as dirt bikes and
the Young Offenders Act.
The junior olympics are approaching and
all the classes are in training for this event.
Terry Drury moved away. He was in Mr.
Hazlitt's grade 7 room.
Mr. Liddle's grade 6 class is going on a
camping trip at Camp Menesetung soon.
They will be studying science in nature first
hand.
Choir entertains atu-thday party

The children's choir of Dungannon United
Church entertained at a birthday party for
the residents at Maitland Manor nursing.
home on Wednesday, May 16.
The choir consisting of Marcie Dawson,
Chad, Jeremy and Tammy Roberts,. Tim and
Michael McNee, Tracy Curran, Amy Jo
Glenn, Dana Park, Jodie Riley and Lisa and
Michael Sillib favoured with four numbers,
accompanied at the piano by Melissa Log-
tenberg. Helen Elliott favoured with several
solos, much to the enjoyment of those
present.
Marie Park visited in London for a couple
of day this week with her aunt, Florence
O'Neil.
Congratulations to John and Kathie Stan -
bury who celebrated their anniversary on
May 22.
A relative shower was held Monday
evening in Goderich at the home of Vicki
Henry for bride elect, Patti Park.
Jean Broughton visited a couple of days
\la week in London with son, Don, daughter
'II law, Jane and granddaughter, Becky.
Sympathy is extended to the family of the
late Eva Wall, who died recently in
Lucknow.
Margaret Mole spent the weekend in Hen-
sall with daughter, Nancy, son in law, Jack
and family, Andy, Jason and Anita.
Dungannon United Church
Rev. Roberts spoke on the topic, How can
we get a religious experience? on Sunday,
May 20.
During the children's story time, Rev.
Roberts read a thank you letter to the
children from the residents of Maitland
Manor thanking them for singing at the
birthday part at the Manor last Wednesday.
The choir sang the anthem, 1'11 Go Where
You Want Me To Go.
Next Sunday the minister will be attend-
ing the annual meeting of the London
Conference in St. Thomas. The two regularly
scheduled services will be taken by the
Youth Group and Diane Park's Sunday
School Class.
