Brookside students compete

Those in grade 4 - 8 who were picked as
having the best speeches in their classroom
gave their speeches in the gym on Monday:
The speakers and their topics were as
follows: Grades 4, 5 and 6, Joel Wright,
What a Day would bo like before Electricity;
Adrian Rau, One of the World's Disasters;
Madonna Bradley, Winning tbe LOttery; Jeff
'Storey, Sisters; Tanya Turner, Prince
Charles; Doug Helm, Trip to Niagara Falls;
Shauna Andrew, Brothers; Daryl Graham,
Owls and Hawks, Birds of Prey; Debbie
Draiver, My Pet; Matthew Spoul, My Four
VVheeler; Teresa Jefferson, Trip to Florida;
Melissa Logtenberg, Smoking; Andrew
Glenn, What I want tor be when I grow
up;Bryan McCann, Television.
The winners in this division were, first,
Madonna Bradley; second, Shauna Andrew;
. third, Matthew Sproul.
Those speaking in the gym for , grade
seven and eight were as follows: Donna
Raynard, Changes from the 50s to the 80s;
Laurie Hayden, Sleeping; Karen Elliott,
Back to school; Ken Strong, Video Games;
Stephanie Durnin, , Fashions of 1983-84;
Penny Moss, Babysitten. Craig Jefferson,
Books; Annette Gruendler, My trip to
Ontario Place.
The winners M Grade seven and eight'
group were, first, Ken Strong; second,
Donna Raynard; third, Laurie Hayden. The
judges for both groups were Miss Bode,
Mrs. Madeline Anderson, Mrs. Judy Smith.
The winners will speak in Lucknow on
February 24.
On Friday February 17 the primary

speeches" were heard in the gym. Grade 1
and 2 children recited a poem of their choice
and Grade 3 prepared and gave a speech on
a topic they chose.
