The exciting news was that the champion prizequilt at the Ripley` Fall Fair last September had been : judged the Grand Champion quilt > in the Canada Packer's Quilt Competition held at the convention. Lynn and -Gayle Lowry of Amberley drove Mrs. Evelyn Bridge of Kincardine to the- Royal theRoyal York Hotel so• that she could Personal- ly receive the 'award for her quilt at the Wednesday evening presentations. Linda reported that Evelyn's quilt would now, be • part of the Canada Parked collection of quilts. • . There were 15 quilts in the competition. Keith then reported that Ripley had the most points in the coloured slides- competi -tion. Ripley had 32 .points followed by St. Marys with 30 points. Ripley had five prizes including firsts in two sections. Keith was presented with the cheque for the Ripley Agricultural Society. , Heart fund canvass On Feb.. 4 - three weeks .ago this coming Saturday - six members of the Ripley Junior Farmers went door to door here in the village to canvass for the Canada Heart Fund. They were Mary Lynn McLean, Mary Stanley, Sandra Jarvis, Ken Brown, Mark McConnell, andtSandy McEwan. This past week Sandy McEwan drove back° :to Ripley to report that a total of $367.75 had . been collected and that the Junior Farmers thanked the people in Ripley. In hospital Three people from Ripley were in the Owen Sound. General and Marine Hospital last week. They are Mrs. Jean Edmiston, Mrs. Pat Fludder and Orland McLeod. Hamilton MacKinnon has returned to. Kin- carddine and District Hospital last week. In the Barbados Bobby Robertson of the Tenth Concession who has just reported the Happy Hearts meetingfor this week's paper; ison a Vaca- tion .to Barbados.
