GOSSAMER LOVELINESS ... the bride is a vision in a romantic gown by Priscilla of drifting starched
chiffon, appliqued with an intermingling of re -embroidered Alencon and delicate Bristol laces. Open V
neckline and slender, tapered sleeves grace the molded bodice. Lace motifs accent the skirt front above
the lace -scalloped hemline and chapel train. Lovely Alencon and Bristol laces border the chapel -length
mantilla, floating from an Alencon lace -covered cap. t

Uncle Harry, the family shutterbug may
volunteer to take the photos at your wed-
ding, but with all due respect, the bride and
groom should consider hiring a profes-
sional. Then, Harry will be able to enjoy the
wedding and they will be guaranteed good
photos.
Professional photographers, and even
some newlyweds, can tell' woeful tales of
how the Uncle Harrys of theworld botched
up the photos and the couple had to dress up
in their wedding clothes to restage portraits.
Furthermore, the . difference in price is
negligible: The •'professsional saves on
volume, and uncle's photos may cost more if
the couple want enlargements. For less than
$100 you can have a professional take
photos, either at one location (usually a
park) or in the studio and be guaranteed
good results. However, most wedding
packages cost between $250 and $400.
The bride and groom should consider the
personality of the photographer and the
quality of his work when choosing someone
to photograph their wedding. A visit to the
gallery to see samples is imperative
because prices vary as much as quality.
This visit will also allow the bride and
groom to get to know the photographer.
Since they will be 'th him throughout their
wedding day, th should choose someone
with whom they f c'' ortable.
A basic wedding package consists of a
bride's album with 12, 8 -by -10 -inch photos,
and two parent's albums, each with 12, 4 -by -
5 -inch pictures. Full wedding coverage
generally includes four locations: the
bride's home, the church, park and the
reception.
Photos at the reception are usually staged
at the beginning of the evening since if the
photographer waits for the actual event, he
hasto charge more for his time. -
A pre -wedding consultation with the
photographer to discuss the day's agenda,
and the photosyou want, can eliminate un-
necessary delay during the photography
session — something that leaves guests
bored and the bride's parents fuming at the
reception hall.
Studio portraits of the bride and groom,
andperhaps the wedding party and the im-
mediate- family of the bridal couple, are
becoming popular again. They are a less ex-
pensive alternative to full wedding
coverage. The portraits can be done before
or after the wedding, but it is easiest to take
them on the wedding day, when everyone is
dressed and the bouquets are fresh.
Whichever coverage theychoose, a couple
should find out how many photos will be
taken. Sixty previews is the usual Minimum
for, full coverage weddings, butthe
photographer often takes more.
If the couple want, to keep the proofs of the
wedding, they should check the cost (proofs
may be cheaper if ordered in advance) and
quality. Preview photos may be black and
white, poor quality proofs or retouched color
originals.
Videotaping of weddings is also gaining
popularity. This adds the dimensions of
sound, andaction to wedding pictures, It is
almost always an accessory to still
photography, but photographers who do
both still and video work usually give dis-
counts. Prices for full coverage range from
$150 to $600.
