Kiniough couple return from splendid holiday in. Hawaii
Mr. and Mrs.Arthur Breckles returned
home from a nice holiday. in Hawaii.
Mrs. John Barr and Winnifred Percy were
dinner- guests of Edna and May Boyle on
• Friday. ,
The Women's Institute ladies were busy
during the week at the Presbyterian Church
hall quilting a quilt for Participation Lodge;
also the girls worked on their mats.
Sympathy is extended to the Robertson
relatives in the death of their sister, Martha,
Mrs. Goldie Huston, who passed away on
Thursday at Wingharn and District Hospital,
after a lengthrillness. Martha grew upon
concession 12 and.. has many friends in this

day afternoon.

The Anglican Church Women met on
Thursday,, February 9 at the home of
Mrs. Delbert Hedley for their annual pot
luck dinner.
• Following the bounteous , meal, Mrs.
Hedley presided for the meeting which
openedwith prayer. Mrs. Ronald Thacker
read the, minutes of the previous meeting
and a short business period followed.
• The roll call was •a Bible verse containing
the word, Shepherd.
•'Plans were made for the World Day of
Prayer which will be held this year in the
Anglican Church.
May Boyle read a missionary story about
Yukon Bishop Ronald Ferris who moved
froin London to Whitehorse in 1980 when he
was elected bishop of the Yukon Diocese at
the age of 35 years, the youngest bishop in
the Anglican Church of Canada. It was
necessary for him to have a small airplane to
cover 774,000 square kilometres of the
Yukon territory and Northern British Colum-
bia to minister to 30,000 people. Last March
a four seater Cessna Cutlass plane was
purchased bythe .diocese which helped him
greatly.
Enda Boyle conducted a contest on men of
the Bible. Mrs. Eric Thacker thanked the
hostess.

MARTHA HUSTON '
• Martha Huston of Ripley passed away last
Thursday, Feb. 9, 1984 in the Wingham
District Hospital. • The • former Martha
Robertson of Purple Grove in Hurdn
•Township she was born there on Friday,
Dec., 2, 1904, and her parents were James
Robertson and Elizabeth Campbell.
She is, survived by ,two sisters Margaret
Robertson and Mrs. Russell Collins both Of
Lucknow and two brothers Kenneth Robert-
son. of Kincardine Township and Donald,
Robertson of Purple Grove (Con. 12). She
was :predeceased by her husband 'Goldie
Huston of the Eighth Concession west in
• Huron Township..
The funeral service was held at one last
Saturday afternoon Feb. 11 in the Ripley
MacKenzie McCreath Funeral Honrie with
Rev. Hugh Nugent of Knox Presbkterian
Church officiating. 'Spring internment will
be in the Ripley Cemetery. ,
Martha attended the Purple Grove Public
School and then the Ripley Continuation
School. Until illness forced her to be
hospitalized, Martha lived in an apartment
in the Florence •MacDonald building on
Main Street west in Ripley.
Clover Valley 4-H
begin fitness fare
The first meeting of the Clover Valley 4-H
club on "Fitness Fare" was held on
Saturday, February 4 at Donna Arnold's
home.
Officers were chosen as follows: presid-
ent, Christina Farrish; vice-president, Ther-
esa Kozack; secretary and press reporter,
Christine Simpson and treasurer, • Heidi ,
Heidi Filmore and Christine Simpson
demonstrated how to make bacon and egg
loaf. While it 'cooked, Donna Arnold and
Charlene ElPhick discussed, The Four S's,
More About Stamina, Checking Your Heart
Rate and The Morning Munch. Members
sampled the bacon and egg loaf.

Members of the Dungannon 1 4-H club
met at the home of Sally Wright. The topic of
this club is guiying, Eight members elected.
officers including piecident, Sherry Hodges;
vice president, Shannon Kerr.
Members talked about quilting materials
and, equipment and practised on their quilt
samples.
