Sheila Clarke, president of the ladies
division; 'told`+:the• members in her address,
the ladies had encouraged the involvement
of members In their. plans for the events
organized by the society. An annual meeting
of the directors of the ladies division has
become an excellent opportunity to pool
ideas for the fair, said Mrs. Clarke:
Additions have been made to the fair prize
list including an essay on the role of the farm

school students% and a letter 'from one fairy
tale 'character to another for younger
students. The baking section also includes a
prize for a cookie' character with no limitation

During the business of the annual
meeting, Don Bell, Minn Bolt, Leo Murray
and Lorne Hackett were .re-elected • as
directors to the executive of the society. Ian
Thomas, Dave Hanna and Wayne Bell were
, nominated as associate directors.
Warren Zinn and Austin Martin were
appointed auditors and Ken Mewhinney and
Barry Elliott were appointed 4-H club
leaders.

agriculture rep
Douglas Miller, a staff member at the
Ontario Ministry of Agriclture and Food in
Halton Region Since April of 1979, has been
promoted to, the position of agricultural
representative' for Peel Region. Peel is one of
Ontario's oldest agricultural areas and ' now
it has the province's youngest agricultural
representative. .
Doug is a ' graduate of F. E. Madill
Secondary School, Wingham and the Ontario
Agricultural College at the University of '°
Guelph with a B.SC. (Agr.).
A son of Eileen Miller and the late Allan
Miller, Doug grew pp on the family farm in
West Wawanosh Township. He is replacing
Bob Bell, who is retiring after 34 years with
the Ministry, ` the last 13 at the Brampton
office.
