Why Should A Child'Remember
In -1940 in Glasgow a little four year old.

He was • waving goodbye to his -father who
wasgoing' off to war -Little did he know -that- .
he would never see his: beloved daddy again.
This is the way a lot of little children saw
their fathers for the last time; during World •
War I,: and World War 2 Most of us no*
don't realize how much it hurt the children
when they found out one of their parents Was
killed. As some of us say: it was a war, a lot .
of people ;died, who cares? . •
Some little children wake up and yell
"Mommy, Daddy!" after they' have a, bad

What The Poppy Indicates To Me.
The. poppy indicates : to me,
The men that fought to set us free.
So many gave their lives :to fight.
They fought with- all their might.
Soldiers were in battle for years.
, -They •had so many fears.
Bombs and guns destroyed and killed.
Cemetries were- filled.'
Families; shed many tears,
, For they . missed their dears.
- So manyhusbands; wives would never
They all fought for you and me.
Therefore on the :11th day of November, '.
We honour and remember.
The poppies beautiful and red, • '
Say the. praise that is not' often said.
This is what the poppy indicates to me.,
Remember the heroes : who set us. free:

Are Remembrance Day Services Important?
Remembrance Dail Has itaost.•meaning for
my ;generation? In my opinion 1 think it has.
If you go to any service you will: not find
many youth attending. To most of, us war
only exists on a television or in a book; yet
once. a year we grieve for .those soldiers we
didn't even know.. 1, as a band member,
attend the parade and service each year and
- it makes me feel sad for those families who
lost loved ones and friends in the war..I find
it hard to imagine what it was r ally like
because it happened so long ago.,
However, Remembrance. Day services are
still very important to the older generation
who do remember. We should never be
allowed to forget all the pain and suffering
that war brings. •Canadians should be
thankful for those soldiers Who laid down
their lives so this country could be free.
Maybe, the soldiers would want us to give
peace to the , world rather than dwell on the
past and the glories of war. Perhaps, our
duty to these brave men is not to let history
repeat itself. Let us try to understand other
nations and their differences.. By using the
freedoms the men fought to receive we could
accomplish these things. I think , that we
• should look more to'thefuture. than the. past.

The Afternoon Auxiliary of the. Women's
Missionary Society of Lucknow Presbyterian
Church met on January 4 at the home of
Mrs. Ndble Johnston with 22 ladies present.
The president, Mrs: Morgan,Henderson:,
welcomed the ladies and opened the meeting
with a New Year's poem. Mrs. Austin Loree
led in prayer. •
Mrs. Ross Cumming+had the Bible Study.
She pointed out tht this New Year was an
open door which prbsents many opportunit
les to all' and that many people here at home•.
Why Should A Child Remember
A .child should .remember,
I.n many different ways,
Because of the brave men,
Who fought and died, those days,
They starved themselves.there was no food,
They all were willing • to come when called,.
And if they didn't fight for us,

We mightn't be hear at all.
Why should I remember?
Because of my freedom,
- From those who fought,
And died' in the •.terrible war,
Who did they care for?
They cared for you and , me,
And why did they fight?
So we would be free,,
I know I should remember,
The brave people who died for me, '
Because they wanted us,
To live happily with our families,
They wanted us to ' live in peace,
And all wars in the world to cease,
They wanted our country free,
To sir g, and to be happy.
