A tape recording of a fine ad-

son, a negro minister from Harlem,
N.Y., was of, much interest. He
described conditions in Africa
where Moslem ;influence is strong.
All Moslem missionaries 'being
black, they often make more im-
pression than the white Christian
missionaries, The former also
live in friendliness with the people.
He suggested sending negroes from
America, not only to preach, but
to work with the people. All
missionaries in Africa have to face
many 'difficulties.

' It was with some trepidation that
Department ,of Lands and Forests
&Manuel ventured forth on No-
vember 9th, the opening day of the
local deer season. Visions of
multitudinous hunters and the air
heavy with S.S.G.'s and rifled
slugs, however, failed to mater-
ialize. Indeed Fish and Wildlife
personnel in some areas experienc-
ed trouble ' in 'locating enough
hunters to Obtain a check, of the
deer kill, In one county and soy-
eral townships, hunter bag checks
were discontinued because hunters
were so scarce. Officers were soon
concentrating thole efforts on a
a few large swamps where hunters
were concentrated,
This somewhat desirable lack of
hunters is believed to be the result
of two 'factors: one was the large
area open for deer buntings that is
7out of our 10 countie8; the other
factor was that our season ,coincid-
ed with the northern deer season,
'Department personnel were also
very pleased with 'the attitude of
moat deer hunters. No complaints
of property damage *were received.
However, hunters are 'still not seek-
ing • the land owner's permission
before hunting on their land.
Again We stress that hunters, or
anglers, have no right to trespass
on private property' without first
asking the land metiers' permis-
sion.
Only two hunter casualties were
reported, both in Bruce County,
One shooting was aceidental, and
One apparently a case of mis-
taken identity, Neither hunter was.
killed, One hunter became lost on
Bruce Peninsula but walked, out
himeelf none the Woese for wear
after two chilly night's in the bush.
