Skating Dinette Cany.ass Raised Over -$600 The local Kinettes took on the job of making the. canvass to raise funds for the 'Wingham and Dis- trict Retarded Children's Associa- tion, and were able to collect $578.75 by last Saturday. At the same time the organization contributed $100 to the cause from its own funds. Stan Hastings, chairman of the drive, stated that he expected an- other $200 would come in from private donors in town and that. more was expected from. outside Wingham, as well . as donations from the organizations which have supported the association over the past couple of years. Mr.. Hastings pointed out that the Kinettes had made a highly site- cesSful effort and deserved con- gratulations for their hard work. Referring to the accom- plishments of the public works deparement, under the chairman- ship of Councillor D. C. Nasmith, the mayor said it is a highly de- manding task and the committee had done "a wonderful job". "We are justly proud of our main street and soon every, street in town will haVe a hard surface."
