The October meeting of the Eve-
ning Auxiliary of the Baptist
Church Mission Circle was held last
Friday evening in the church audi-
torium, A welcome was extended
to ,all, as it was the Auxiliary
Thankoffering meeting.
The hymn, "Soldiers of the
Cross" was sung to open the meet-
ing. Mrs, Frank Collar read the
Scripture, taken from Acts. Mrs.
Merrill Cantelon. and Mrs. Glen
Schiefele favoured with a duet,
"Sweet Peace, the .Gift of .Grod's.
Love". Mrs. Richard Kilpatrick
.offered prayer and Miss Marlene
Rogers played a lovely piano solo,.
"Abide With Me". •
Following the singing of the mis-•
sionary hymn "The Gospel Bells'
Are 'Ringing", Mrs. Frank Rogers,
the president, introduced the guest
speaker for the evening, Rev, Ernie
Keefe, who gave a challenging mes-
sage about the work in ,Asbestos,
Quebec, and showed pictures of
the 'work in that area of the Fel-
lowship Baptist field. 'Following
the singing of "I Am Thine, 0 ,

A sectional meeting of the Mait-'
land Presbyterial Society was held
in Molesworth with representativea
from Belmore Bluevale, Brussels,
Craribrook, Gorrie, Ethel, Moles-,
worth, Teeswater and Wingham
present, -„
Mrs, Farrish Moffatt, president
'of Maitland Presbyterial, was also
present and gave a concise account
of ,the meeting of council which,
she attended in BelleVille in the
late summer.
The lVfolesworth . meeting . had
been planned .by the vice-presidents
and Mrs, William L. Speir was in
the chair, and opened the meeting.

nouncing the theme of the meeting,
"Let There Be Light", she com-
mented "A light serves its pur-
pose only when it shines out."
Mrs. Howard Harris, president of
the Molesworth society, weldoined

Mayor Shows Slides
On Trip to Russia
At the Tuesday evening meeting
of the Couples' Club of St. And-
rew's Presbyterian Church Mayor
R. E ,McKinney was the ,guest
speaker. 'He showed interesting
slides of his trip to Europe earlier
this summer. He. showed cqte a
number taken in West Berlin and
other 'parts of Germany, but 'of par-
ticular interest and forming.. the
major portion •of the shoWing were
slides he had taken in Moscow. The
Club felt fortunate in being able to
see these slides of Moscow, parti-
cularly when Russia is so much in
the news at this time: Mr.
Kinney was thanked on behalf of
the Club by Mr. Henderson,
The meeting opened with a call
to worship by the president, Mrs.
Bruce MacDonald, followed by a
hymn. Mrs, Ken Leitch read the
Scripture. Minutes were read by
Bob 1V1eKague and roll' call was
answered by introducticin of guests;

Nelson Pickell led a, 'sing-song of
iavourite hymns. After the shoW-
ing of the slides by Mayor Mc-
Kinney the meeting clo,,ed with a
hymn and closing prayer led by
Gerald 'Smith. Following a don-
test lunch . was served 'by 'the come
mittee in charge.

husband on a trip to the Far East,

Held in Bayfield
The Fall Deanery of the WO-
men's Amdliary of the Anglican
church was held in Trinity Church,
Bayfield on Thursday afternoon
Mrs. Hunt of Goderich, deanery
president, opened the meeting and
welcomed the members,
The secretary, Mrs. J, B, Higgins
of Bayfield 'read the 'minutes and
gave the financial report. The
'president ,reported o,n the semi-
annual 'Meeting lield 'in" Woodstoek
urged that the 75th year 'of the
existence of the W. A. be com-
memorated by striving for a
larger membership more readers
for the "Living Message" and a
more dedicated stewardship of time
and money,
Three Clinton ladies, Mrs. Epps,'
Mrs. Kirby and Mrs: Hugh Dyer
were appointed a nominating com-
mittee to bring in a slate of
officers at the spring deanery
which will- be held in Wingham.
Mrs. Hunt then introduced the
sneaker, Mrs, Hurford of London.
She spoke first ,of her years Of
missionary work in China and the
use of visual aids in teaching;
when knowledge of the language
Is. still inadequate, Unsettled con-
ditions in China have made it'
feasible to transfer some of the
Work to Africa where.• there is a
great call for missionary effort on

BELMORE:- The Thankoffering
meeting of Knox Presbyterian
Church' was held in the Sunday
School room 'on Thursday after-
noon, with' an, attendance of 21 la-
dies. and four children. Mrs, Glen
Appleby presided.
The meetingopened with a hymn,
and the Scripture was read by Mrs.
Robert Inglis, Mrs.‘ Bruce Darling
read the Bible story on three sick
women healed by Christ. Mrs,
John Dickson led in prayer.
The guest speaker was a former
member of the society, Mrs. ('Rev.)
Maurice McNabb, of Port Elgin,
who gave a very interesting talk on
"Gratitude", using as her text,
Luke 17. She had many splendid
illustrations of gratitude, and some
times 'the lack of it. Mrs, Alvin
Mundell then presented her with
a Life Membership Certificate in
appreciation of her. work in the
soeiety,and 'her mother, Mrs. Wm.
Darling, pinned the W.M.S. 'Life
Membership pin on her.
The meeting closed with a hymn
,and. the -benediction by Rev. T. E.

On, Thursday evening a choir
meeting was held t,o elect the
officers . for the coming year at
St. Paul's Anglican Church. Rev.
C. F. Jcihnson opened with prayer,
The president, Mrs. F. Seddon,
asked• the .minutes 'and treasurer's
report be read, Rev, Johnson con-
ducted the election of officers.
President for the coming year
is Walter W. Bickford; vice pros,,
Mrs. F. Seddon; sec., Shirley Ellis;
treas.; Mrs. Miller Davis; choir
mother, Mrs. F, Seddon social
committee, Pat Deyell , and • Pat
Hall. •
Herbert Fuller gave a vote of
thanks to the 'organist, Mrs. Gor-
don. Davidson which was seconded
by Mrs. Davis and several choir
matters were discussed, Rev. John-
son closed 'the meeting with prayer
and a social hour was enjoyed.

HOSTESS TO WM&
BELMORE— The October meet
ing of the Woman's Missionary So-
ciety of Belmore United Church
was held ore Wednesday afternoon
at the home of Mrs. Ira Neil, 17
ladies 'and two children 'being pre-
sent. Mrs: John Rutherford was
leader. A hymn was sung' and.
Bible readings were read respon-
sively, follow'ecl by a Thanksgiving
prayer.
"0 God of 'Love, 0 Kiag of
Peace" was sung and Mrs, Sear-,
son gave a reading from the Mis-
sionary Monthly. Mrs. Harper
gave 'one On temperance, "When
the Liguor Dealer Is a Prohibition-
ist".
The roll call was "A disease of
Bible times", Mrs, Neil gave a
reading .and Mrs. Thomas Abra-
lam gave the chapter in the Study
book, "Africa Disturbed"„ Mrs,
L. Metcalfe read -the •minutes of the
last W,M.S. meeting and Mrs. H,
Mulvey took charge of the business
portion of the meeting.
The Thanksgiving offering was
received, after which Mrs.. Neil
closed the meeting with prayer,
