The Mustangs Win Again!
On Thursday the Mustangs
travelled to Seaforth te . take on
the Seaforth Golden Bears, and
came out on top with a score of
31,7,
In the first quarter it was a
see-saw battle' between the two
teams; Wingham had a number of
chances to score but lost the ball
on penalties. In the second quarter
Bill Crawford opened the scoring
on a reverse play, Then, less than
a minute to go, Wayne Brown ran
for a touchdown; Seaforth kicked
a rouge, and the lialf-time score
stood at 12-1,
In the third quarter the spec-
tators held their breath as Doug
Lockriclge recovered a fumble and
the boys rolled down .for a touch-
down by Dave Kennedy. In the
fourth quarter, with Don McDowell
quarter-backing, and Bill Dallimore
scoring, two .more touches went
over the line. Seaforth's lone
score was made when Bill Camp
bell caught a long pass and car-
ried the ball over.'
The boys came home happy, with
the Mustangs leading the league
With two wins and no defeats. The
next game will he at home on
Thursday, October 8th, with Clin-
ton as visitors. Be sure to he on
hand to root Wingham on to an-
other victory:

OPENER OF SERIES
The Wingham Sunoco's journey-
ed up to Southampton for the op-
ening game of the W.A.A. Inter-
mediate A championship series and
came out on the short end 'of a 12-5
score last Wednesday evening.
The sixth inning was the one
that beat the Sunoco's when South-
ampton combined five hits, a walk
and a hit batter for six runs. Jim
Bain had a ilionto run and a single
for the Sunoco's and Barry Fry-
hit each were Lott, Gardner, Mur-

An 18-hole 'tournament followed
'by a banquet at the club house
marked the official closing of the
golfing season in Wingham last
week, when some 50 members were
on hand for the event.
Due to poor weather the tourna-
ment entry was small but the ban-
quet, and social evening drew a
good crowd.
Matt. Boyd, club captain, •acted
as master of ceremonies, and dur-
ing the evening trophies and prizes
were presented,
W. H. French was presented with
the .McKibbon Trophy, as club
champion. Murray Rae, the run-
ner-up, was presented with a prize,
as well as Lyman Jardin and, Omar
Haselgrove 'as semi-finalists.
J, W. Callan received a prize as
winner of the 36Lhole second event,
which went to 47 holes before he
'won out over Grover Clare, Ly-
man Jardin won 'the junior cham-
pionship 'trophy with a Nize going
to Dennis Callan, the runner-up in
that event. The trophy was pre-
sented by W. H. French, club pm
sident.
Ross Hamilton and Jim Currie
also received prizes as semi-final-
ists in 'the second event.
Mrs, Norman Elliott, winner of
the 36-hole event and club cham-
pion, was 'presented with the Mar-
jorie 1VIcKinney Trophy *by R. E'
McKinhey. 'Mrs. Elliott was also
presented with a tray by Mrs. W.
Conron, as winner of the nine-hole
competition. .Mrs. Conron was the
club captain, Indies' division.. Mis.
Reg. DuVal was runner-up in the
36-hole event and Mrs. Conrkn in
the nine-hole event. .
