Opens Season
The Thursday night bridge club
held the opening of the winter
season in the firemen's hall last
week.- There were seven and a
half tables in play. The winners
were as follows:

2nd, and Mrs, J. Day and Mrs.

.BLUEV,ALE— Laura E. Rolph,
widely of the late' ,james Kirton,
died at the Baker, Nursing Home
in Brussels on Friday, She was in
her 83rd year. Mrs. Rirton was
born at Mitchell, but lived alearly
all her life in Turnberry and Blue-
vale. She was the daughter of the
late John Rolph,and Margaret Mc-
Kay. Her husband, whom she mar-
ried in 1920,, died in 1928.
Surviving are one ion, Eldon, of
Turnberry, a sister, Mrs,. Jos. Cur-
tis of Bluevale, five grandchildren
and three nieces,
The funeral service was held in
Bluevale United Church on Oc-
tober 5th. The minister, Mr, Alan
H. Neelon, conducted the service.
He referred to Mrs. girton's faith-
fulness in serving the Church, Xi's.
C. B. Hoffman sang "Beautiful Isle
of Somewhere",
The pallbhar'ers were Eldred Ni-
chol, Ross Smith,. Corden Hall, Ro-
bert Erneit and James Michie. In-
terment was in_Wingliain Ceme-
tery.

Dies in Wingham
BLUEVALE—The ' death occur-
red in Wingliam General Hospital
on October 3rd of Elsie Strachan
, Widow of the late Andrew •Lamone.
Mrs. Lamont was born in Grey
Township and lived 'there most of
her life, retiring some years ago .to
live with her sister, the late Mrs.
Peter 5, lVfcEwen, and her brother,
Dugald Strachan, in Bluevale, She
, was a member of Melville Presby-
terian Church in Brussels and lat-
terly of BIuevale Presbyterian
Church,
The funeral service was held ih
the Rann funeral home in Brus-
sels on Monday with interment in
Brussels ,cemetery. Rev, T. E.
Kennedy a Bluevale was the of-
ficiating minister,
Surviving . are one sister, Mrs.
Isabel Yeomans of Detroit, and
two brothers, DugaId Strachan of
Bluevale and Dr. James Straehan
of. Port William and a nephew,
James Strachan of Detroit,

to the sectional meeting of the
w.ivns. at Gorrie on October 22nd,
It was decided to accept the invi-
tation of the Whitochurch
to their Thankoffering meeting on
October 13th.
Mrs. John Wickstead sang the
solo, "Dear to the Heart of God",
Mrs. George Hetherington intro-
duced the study program arid read
from Proverbs and a poem, "God's
Hilltops".
Mrs. W, J, Peacock and Mrs. Sas,
Johnston assisted hi the program,
reading scripture and comments
a,bout three wicked women of the
•• Delilah, Jezebel arid Ath-
aliali. Questions Were asked about
the effects of the lives of these wo-
men on the people and the countiy.
An interesting discussion follewed.
At the close of the meetihg a

three members whose birthdays are
