Mrs. Margaret Ridden of Arkola, Sask., Spent a few days visiting with Mr, and Mrs. Lewis Stone- house and with Mrs. Robert Stone house. Mary de Yong and Margaret Nicholson spent a few days visit- ing with Mr. and Mrs. Alec Styles, Billy and Patsy in Mimico. Mrs, Alice Johnston and Miss Iris Johnston of London are spending a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Richard Procter and Joyce. The Harvest Home church service was announced for Sunday, October 4. Mrs. Cora McGill was in charge of the program which included a reading, "Prayer" by Mrs. Alec Nethery, Mrs. Mel Bradburn gave a, reading, "A Faithful Few" and Mrs. Neil McCrea gave a reading, "The Value of a Smile", Miss Joyce Procter gave a flute solo. The next 'meeting will be held at the honie of Mrs. Cora McGill, Lunch was served by the hostess alssisted by Mrs. Cora McGill and Mrs. Richard Procter. The minutes were read by Mrs. Willard Armstrong and the trea- surer's report by Mrs. .1. M, Coul- tes. The roll call was answered with 'a verse including the word "life". The offering was received and dedicated. The group decided to purchase three new tablecloths and pay for the plumbing done in the church. The Board of Stewards is to ar- range to have the new rooms fin- ished. Mrs. Walter Scott opened the W.M.S. meeting with a hymn and prayer. Minutes were read by Mrs. George Michie, treasurer's re- port by Mrs. George Martin and the Gift Fund report by Mrs, Jesse Wheeler. A letter was •read from R. Manning concerning the present temperance issue and asking for the co-operation of the Auxiliary. Mrs, J. M. Coultes, Mrs, James Michie and Mrs, Williard Arm- strong as alternate were named delegates to the sectional meeting to be held in Gorrie on October 22, Plans were ma.de'for the opening worship service to be in charge of the Belgrave group. Plans were made for a thank- offering meeting to be held Wed- nesday evening, Sept, 30, in the church with the following groups as' guests, Winghani Afternoon Auxiliary, Brick, Westfield, and the Belgrave Evening Auxilary, Mrs.. J, C. Britton will be guest speaker. Mrs. Jesse Wheeler spoke a few words and Mrs. George Martin pre- sented Mrs .Albert Vincent with a life membership certificate to the W.M.S. Mrs. Walter Scott read the reso- lution which she will present at the fall sectional meeting in regard to retaining the Red Ensign, the Union Jack and "God Save the Queen" as our flag and national arithern. Eighteen members,answered the roll call with facts about Africa. There were 15 home and 40 hos- pital visits to the sick and shut-ins recorded. Mrs. `Borden Scott Was in charge of the worship, opening with the Call to worship and a hymn, Mrs., C, Nethery read the Scripture and Mrs,. Scott led in prayer., The new study, "Africa Disturbed", was in- traduced by Mrs. Walter Scott, Mrs. Kenneth Wheeler read the different problems dealing with the following in Africa: Education, Christianity, race prejudice, com- munications, new economy. Afri- can culture is distufbed and with good reason. The meeting 'closed with a hymn and the benediction. MRS. D.
