usually appear in costumes of the
Wild West of the Gay Nineties,
Slim Boucher and the Golden
Prairie Cowboys will provide the
music,
Saturday Parade
At 1,80 Saturday afternoon the
Frontier Parade will take off from
on Thursday night Everyone is
welcome to come along and join in
the fun,
Friday night, will see a highlight
of the Frontier Days when Joyce
Rahn, famous singing star of the
CBC's Cross Canada Hit Parade.

has always drawn unstinting ap-
plause, will again appear in the
parade and will present their pre-
cision drill at the park, ,Another
highly interesting unit "will be the
RCAF band 'from Clinton., In ad-
ditien there will, be the Brussels
Pipe Band, the Belgrave
Band and the Wingham Lions Boys'
and Girls' Band.
Entertainment at the park will
include Cliff Adams, Ontario's
champion step dancer, a horse show
and music by Boucher hand;
Frontier Days will wind up on .
Saturday evening with a never-
failing, top-notch attraction, the
CrKNX Barn Dance broadcast. This
year the show goea' on the air 'at
8.30 p.m., and those who want to
be sure of a beat will be at the
arena well in advance Of the
broadcast deadline.
W. T. "Doe" Cruickshank, tells
us that this Will be the largest
Barn Dance presentation 'of the
entire 1959 season, and Will
well worth seeing. It will 'be 'fel-
lowed by the Saturday Night Barn

The midway Will operate in .the.
park not only on ThurSday night
but on Friday evening and ,Satur-
day afternoon and evening as well,
so there will be plenty tor the
youngsters to do.
A new feature at the Saturday
afternoon event in the park will he
a free airplane ride over the town
and surrounding district for the
holder of the luCky gate ticket.

REV. WORKMAN DIES
AT SUNDAY ' SERVICE
New Houses in
Berry Patch
Two new homes are under way
in the development property open-
ed up during the past year by The
Berry Door Co., Ltd,
Eric Walden, of Walden Bros.'
Transport, who at present resides
in Ripley, will build a home im-
mediately west of Francis Mills'
residence, and, "Scotty" Forbes, of
London, will build just south of the
other two sites,
Mr, Mills, vice-president of the
Berry Corporation, erected the first
home in the new development.

Child Falls from
Moving Vehicle.
BLEEVALE-aA serious accident

Thompson, young son of Mr. and
Mrs. Jack Thompson, He was
riding in a truck with his brother,
John, on a return trip from Tees-
water wheii, over a rough spot in
the road, the door of the truck
flew open and Donny fell out.
He was taken to, Wingham, Gen-
eral Hospital suffering from a dis-
located htp, numerous cuts and
bruises.
The most serious accident of the
past week • occurred last Friday
on the farm of Lorne Wall, when
his brother-in-law, Russell Need-
ham, 54-year-old resident of R.R. 2
Ripley, was caught in a machine,
suffering very serious injuries to
his right arm. Rushed to the hos-
pital in Wingham, it was found
necessary to remove the remains of
-the mangled arm. 'Examination also
disclosed a fractured right leg and
.multiple bruises, Mr. Needham is
still in hospital where his condi-
tion is now described as satisfac-

Douglas Howatt, 12-year-old son
of Mr,. and 'Mrs. Edgar Howatt, . of
R. R. 1, Belgrave, was admitted
'to the Wingham General Hospital
on Thursday of last week after he
had fallen from a tree, It was
found that he had suffered a
fractured right wrist;
Also on Thursday Ruth Ann
Oakley, 7, was treated at the hos-
pital after she had run a rusty
nail into her foot. She is the
daughter of Elwin Oakley, Wrox-
eter.
Another member of the same
family came to grief on. Sunday
when little Ian Oakley fell on a
pencil which he had in his mouth,
the point puncturing the roof of
the mouth. Brought to the Wing-
ham Hospital, several stitches were
required to close the wound.
Michael Cummins, of R. 'R. 2,
Lucknow, was injured on Thursday
when his left hand came in contact
with the blades of a power lawn
mower. He was treated for exten-
sive cuts at the Wingham Hos-
pital.
On Friday Allan Mowbray, 15-
year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Virden
Mowbray, Lucknow, fell about ten
feet in their barn, He was admitted
to the Wingham Hospital with
serious head injuries, but his con-
dition was reported as satisfactory
on Tuesday,
Another accident which occurred
last Thursday sent Elmer McFar-
lane, 16, of R. R. ,1, Holyrood, 'to
hospital, He suffered •seVere cuts
to his right arm whe he became
entangled in barbed wire,
On Sunday morning Rev, H, V.
Workman 70, who was preaching
at Calvin-Brick. Church, suffered
a heart attack and died while' in
the ;pulpit. .Mr, Workman was re-

of directors of 'the Wingham Gen-
eral, Hospital on Friday night.
Chairman H. C. MacLean presided
and statistical and financial re-
ports were given by Mrs. I, Morrey
and A. D. MacWilliam.
There was discussion of the
matter of applicants for the new
Certified Nursing Assistants' course
which opens this fall, Since the
class which is now in training is
somewhat smaller than usual it
was decided that the incoming
class would include 22 to 24
students.
Mrs. W. E, 'Fielding, of Wing-
ham, has been appointed as in-
structress of the CNA classes, re-
placing Mrs. Cross, of Listowel.
Iter, Workman collapsed and fell
to the floor shortly after .begiiining
his sermon. Members 'of the con-
gregation and Mrs. Mary Galbraith,
Reg:N., of Detroit, who was visit-
ing at 'her home here, gave what
assistance they could, Rev Work-
man succumbed as a doctor and
ambulance' arrived from Wingham,
He was 'a native of Tuckersmith

wnship and had attended Exe-
c. High School. He later went
. o 'Hamilton Normal School and
following graduation taught school
for three years. Mr, Workman
then attended Queen's University
and was ordained in the Presby-
terian , Church, joining the United
Church in 1925.,
In 1938 Mr. Workman went to
Seaforth Northside Church and
ministered to , the congregation
there for 11 years. He was called
to Tillsonburg and when he retir-
ed in 1958 returned to Seaforth,
His wife was in the congregation
when he was stricken on Sunday
morning. He is also survived by
a daughter, two grandchildren and
a sister.
The funeral will be held this af-
ternoon (Wednesday) at 2 o'clock
,.from Northside United Church in
Seaforth.

outstanding , centribution, tp , the
teaching profession of the province.
A, teacher for .41, years, 23 years
of which she was, 'a member of the
Wingham Public School staff, she
had proven. herself enthusiastic
and 'capable. ;Her 'chief 'interest
was the guidance of young people
in becoming good citizens. •
In 1953 Miss MeLatighlin received
a Coronation Medal, Last year,
when' she retired, members of the
teaching staff and” the school
hoard held a special function in
her honor and each fela keenly a
deep regret in losing a teacher so
devoted to her profession. ,At this
particular time the community is
`proud of her accomplishment and
happy that this honor is being
bestowed upon one so deserving.
Miss McLaughlin has served as
president 'of the Wingham Unit,
president of the North Huron
Association and as a delegate to
fall conferences, spring assemblies
and. the innuar Meeting, She has
taken an active interest in the
affairs of the coinmualty and has
never missed 'an opportunity - to
promote education.
Cadets Licensed
Following Course
Paul Bennett and. Keith Finni-
gan, who took a four-week course
for air cadets at London during
July, followed their ground training
with a flying course.
. Both students have been award-
ed their private pilots' licenses at
the completion of the :flying course.
lVfiss Verna McLaughlin is being
honored. tonight (Wednesday) by
the Federation of ,Women Teachers'
'Associations of Ontario at the
Federation's 41st annual 'dinner.
Miss McLaughlin will be pre-
sented with an honorary member-
ship in the Federation by the
president, Mrs. Florence 0. Irvine,
B.A., of Ancaster. Miss MeLaugh-

Swimming tests are in progress
at the Tceswater Lions pool this
week. The beginners completed
their tests on Monday.. The jun-
iors Will take their tests on Thure-
day, August 20, with the intermed-
iates and seniors trying ,On Friday

Those who have taken lessons
