MEETING BELGRAVE—The Home Helpers meeting of the Women's Missionary Society. of Knox Presbyterian Church was held on Thursday eV.- ening in the church. 'Guests Were, present , from Trinity Anglidak Church and Knox United Church of Belgrave. Miss Dorothy Doug- las, home on furlough from the mission field in Formosa,' was gueft speaker for the occasion. Mrs. Edgar Wightman, Horne Helpers secretary, presided and gave the call to worship. A bYnnn was sung, followed by prayer, Mrs., Joe Dunbar, president of the.Socii- ety welcomed the guests. The Scripture reading Was given by Mrs, Ross Anderson and the meditation was given by Mrs.. J, C: McBurney. A musical number "In' the Garden" was sung by Lillian Bruce, Anne Wightman, Margaret Nicholson, Margaret Wightman and Marlene, Purdon and was very much enjoyed.- The offering was received and dedicated and a hymn was sung. Mrs. Alan Dun- bar led in the Glad Tidings prayer. Mrs. O. G, Anderson introduced the speaker, Miss Douglas, form- erly of Lucknow, who gave ,a vivid picture of the work being done 'in Formosa where 12,000,000 people struggle for a living, on this small island of which only 1/3 of its territory is usable land. There are 335 Christian churches in For- mosa and the big task is to trans- late the Bible into their language, as so ,many are eager to learn. There ,has never been a more op- portune time for missionaries to teach the Gospel than at present and 'more missionaries are needed, as the people, are pressing for- ward for knoWledge 'Of Christianity. Mrs. Victor Youngblut, on behalf of those present, .thanked Miss Douglas and all who took part to make the meeting a success. An-, other hymn was sung and Mrs. Dunbar closed the meeting with prayer, Lunch was served by the ladies of the society end 'a social time enjoyed. BELGRAVE Mr. and Mrs. Robt.
