Walter S. Scott Buried on Monday On Friday, April 24, Walter Sam- awl Scott of R.R. .5, Wingham e passed away in Wingharn General Hospital, He was -in his 77th year. . A son of Robert Scott and Mary Ann Barberree, he. was born in East Wawanosh, where he was ed- ueated. Mr, Scott never married and is survived ' by one brotkier, John P. Scott,- Four brothers, James, Robert, William and Allan and two sisters, Mary Elizabeth and Agnes predecease& him. He was a member of Belgrave Presbyterian Church. The funeral was on Monday from the R. A, Currie & Sons funeral home, with Rev. J, Green conduct- ing the service. The pallbearers were Athol. Homuth 'Lived in Wingham BEtrriston and vicinity was deep- ly shocked and saddened by the sudden passing at her home on Fri- day, April 17, of one of its most beloved residents, Mrs. Jean Ho- muth, wife of Frederick Homuth, The daughter of Edward and Ann Werth, she was born in Pilkington Township in Wellington County, later 'bovine. to Elora, where she attended schools. She worked as a taylor in Elora and Guelph, un- til her marriage to Frederick Ho- Muth on August 31st, 1916. MacLeo,d Ill Only Two Days Peter Milne MacLeod; Minnh Street, passed away in Wingham General Hospital on Wednesday, April 22nd, following a very short, illness. 14, MacLeod took iii two days earlier. Born on the second concession of Kinloss Township on April 5, 1900 he was a son of John and Evan- geline MacLeod. 'He received Jill:, early education in Kinloss and in 1923 attended Michigan State Auto- mobile School in Detroit. Follow- ing graduation he came to Wing- ham 'in 1924 and was a garage mechanic for William Reid. Short- ly after he went into partnership with Wilfred Arthur and they owned and operated the MacLeod and Arthur garage, where Sted- man's Store is today. Mr. MacLeod married Mary Ann. MacSween of Kincardine on ,April 9, 1924, and they have lived on Minnie Street ever since their mar- riage. • In 1941 he went to Hamil- ton to work for Canadian Westing- house Company, at a time when the country needed people for war production. Mr. MacLeod remain- ed with the company until the Lime of his death and had become sup- ervisor in the refrigeration depart- Less than two weeks pridr to his passing, April 11th, Mr. and Mrs. MacLeod celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary at their home With their family and friends. He is survived by his wife, a son, Donald, of Sarnia, and two daugh- ters, Phyllis (Mrs. Lloyd Keeler) of Walkerton and Jean (Mrs, Peter MacKinnon) of town. There are five grandchildren. He is also survived by four brothers, Fred of Detroit, Henry of Windsof, John Of Spears, Sask., and Alex of Luck- now; and one sister, Gloria (Mrs. Barry Nixon) of Lucknow. Mr. 'MacLeod was a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church and of the Junior Veterans' Assoc- iation, Westinghouse Company. Dr. Alexander Nimmo was as- sisted by Rev. W. McClean of Lucknow on Saturday afternoon when funeral service was held from the R, A. Currie & Sons fun- eral home with interment in South Kinloss cemetery. The pallbearers were Harold Brooks, Wilfred Arthur, Morris Swanson, all of Wingham, Doug- las Graham, of Lucknow, Clayton Fryfogle, Toronto and Arnold Lil- low of Bluevale. The floral trib- utes were carried by' fellow em-, ployees from Hamilton. one of her favorites. Patrol lead- ers and seconds of the Harriston Boy Scouts formed a guard of hon- or at the church. The number and magnificence of the floral tributes attested to the high esteem in which she was held in the community. She' is survived by her husband, one son, Carol, who is in 'practice with his father, 'three brothers, Albert of Hespeler, Lincoln of Port Burwell, Ervin of Listowel; One sister, (Lila) Mrs. David Valiance of 'Har- riston, and two grand-daughters, Carole Anne, and Victoria, One brother, .Charles, predeceased 'her last year, Mrs. Homuth was well known in Wingham, having resided here for some tithe. Earl Gaunt of Londesboro and Mrs. Clifford Purdon of Belgrave visit- ed at the Magoffin home on Mon- day, after attending the funeral of their uncle, the late Robert Stone- house. Mr. and Mrs. Gibson Hamilton of Lucknow and Miss Betty Hamilton of Niagara Falls visited on Sunday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A, E. Buckton, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Weber and daughters visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. James Ketchum of Palmerston.
