Just try to name one thing, other than electricity
that helps bathe children, shave husbands, wash
clothes, cook meals, refrigerate food and clean
the house.
Electricity . • . only electricity'. . does all these
things and many more that help to make today's
family living more pleasant : . yet it costs just

MRS. GEORGE 6IBSON
SPEAKER AT W.M.S. .
13LUEVALE, The Presbyterian
W.M.S. held its Easter Thankof-
feting meeting on. Wednesday of
last week in the Stinday School
room. Members of Lang,side, Tees-
,water and Belmore Auxiliaries
were guests.
The meeting opened with the call
to worship, by the president, Mrs.
B. Thomas, who also read an Eas-
ter .reading. Mrs. Whytock 'of
'Langside read the Scripture front
St., John, &lowed by prayer by
Mrs. G. Mundell, An accordion
selection given by Mrs. L. Stobo of
Tetswater was much enjoyed. The
offering was received and dedicat-
ed by Mrs. R, Robertson.
,The guest speaker, Mrs. George
Gibson, of Wroxeter, was introduc-
ed by Mrs. Gordon Greig and her
address was very 4nteresting. Her
subject was based on "Lamps or.
Lights that Illuminate" and divid-
ed her message into six different
parts. The first one, Cheerfulness,
was compared to a living room
where we should always be ready
with ,a song on our lips and a
smile to welcome visitors or neigh-
hors. No matter what our condi-
tion we can always be happy. Think
of Paul and Silas when in prison
and at the darkest hour sang songs
and offered prayer,
Secondly, thankfulness. in our
dining-room, "Do all in the name
of the Lord Jesus". Do we always
thank God ^before we partake of
our botinteous meals? Our life is
like a.bridge joining yesterday and
tomorrow, but today is the accept-
ed time. Thirdly, faithfulness. Let
us go to the kitchen and think of
Our parents. The kitchen, is plain
but bright and mother is always
faithful' to her duties, AsParents
We must be faithful to our families
just as we expect thlein„, to have
faith in us, Remernber, little ones
like to follow .dad's and mother'S
foOtsteps. Help its, as parents, to
follow in Christ's footsteps,
Fourthly, whole heartedness rep
resents study Where at the end of
the day mother and father are plan-
ning and figuring and where there
is time for quiet thought. If we
keep our lamp trimmed and burn,
Mg We can labor with Christ, Fifth-
ly, "Children obey your
parents," And we think of. the mirs..
cry where it has heat said that an
ounce of mother is worth a pound
Of elerg*ion and the wonderful op-
portunities parents have With the
lives of small ones entrusted to
their love and care.
Lastly we think 'of 'the whole
Where God is the Everlasting
Light and where that word of God
IS a light= unto our feet, Christ is
often referred to as a, , lighthouse
Where a ,beecon showq, us the path
to follow to keep away frokt dam,

Keeping Watch on
Maitland River
BLOB VALE—The Maitland has
been doing its spring cleaning. Ice,
tree roots and, branches and other
debris are being carried along in,
the rush of water The river is
giving little trouble this year,
though light at the dam during a
long night, indicates that a careful
watch is kept.
In pioneer times our Maitland
Was a source of worry to the town-
ship councillors for every spring
the wooden bridges were' heaped
with logs and branches, playfully
piled by the flood of water, and
these ,had to he'cleared away.
