DODGERS ON TOP
IN HOCKEY SERIES
The Wingham Crawford Dodgers
headed the WOAA Group 2 loop
when statistics were released on
Saturday, The local boys have a
total of 25 points with 11 wins, 4
losses and one tie. They are fol-
loWed by the Wiarton Redmen with
20 points on 9 games won, 5 lost;
Port Elgin, 14 points with 7 ,wins
and 7 losses; Kincardine, 14 points
with 7 wins and 9 losses and Ches-
ley 5 points with 2 wins, 11 losses
and one tie. The Wingham and
Wiarton teams have each won a
four-point game to build up their
totals that much higher than the
other contenders. •
Top individual scorer in the loop
is Kingston of the Chesley squad
who has earned a total of 50 points.
He is followed by A, Kreutzweiser
of Wiarton with 49; Ray of Wiar-
ton, .48; Murray Stainton, Wing-
ham, 44; Stevenson, Wiarton, 42;
and Doug Murray, Wingham, with
42.

ed the card tournament held at
Kincardine on Thursday. High
prizes were won mostly by Kin-
cardine members.

ond Mrs. Cy Robinson, Wingham;
consolation, Mrs, L, Carter, Wing-

trict 8 will be held' at Wingham
Legion home an Thursday, Feb.

ped. the Port Elgin JC's 12-4 in the
Lakeshore town last Wednesday
night,
Barry Fryfogle led the scoring
for Wingham with three markers,
while Murray Stainton and Doug
Murray followed up with: two each.
Good Corson, Bruce Lett, Doug
Wallace, Jim Bain and Murray.
Gerrie banged in singles. The
leading scorer for Port was Miller
with two, while Walmesly and
Woods were credited, with sitgles.
Wingham scored 'twice ' in the
first pethad with Cord Gerson, as-
sisted by Murray Gerrie and Barry
Fryfogle and Jim Bain combining
• on the second.
Bruce Lott scored unassisted at
the 2,12 mark of the second frame
and Barry Fryfogle came up with
his second goal on a pass from Jim
Bain. At the half way mark Doug,
Wallace gave Wingham a five-goal
edge, but only minutes later Walm-
esly and Miller brought in the SC's
first marker of the night. Woods
Of Port Elgin added another at
13.05. but Doug Murray scored for
Wingham to let the score stand
at 6-2 as the second period closed.
MINTS COMPLETE
REGULAR SCHEDULE
The Wingham Lions Midgets
have completed their regular sche-
dule of hockey games and are now
awaiting a playoff schedule, pre-
sumably with the Kincardine team.
Two exhipition games have been
arranged to keep "them in top form
until the playoffs commence,
To date the Midgets have given
a good account of themselves, los-
jug only one game in the schedule,
to Mildmay, There is every possi-
bility that the Wingham team will
make a good' showing in the sev-
eral playoff and final series which
are still to come. Bob Ritter and
Bill Wood have done a fine job of
coaching the Midgets throughout
the season.
The management of the team
has also asked us to express
appreciation to the following who
have been very helpful in provid-
ing transportation for out-of-town
games; John Cruickshank, Herb
Fuller, Bob Ritter, Harry Spry and
Ross Peacock.

CompAition was keen on Satur-
day when 16 rinks competed for
the John Hanna trophy in the
annual mixed curling bonspiel.
The trophy, up for competition
for the first time is donated by
John 'W, Hanna of Wingham,
M.P.P. for Huron-Bruce and was
won by Murray Rae of Wing-
ham, Members of his rink were
Mrs. Murray Rae,. Mrs. :T A Gerrie
and Samuel Sweeney, who also re-
ceived miniature trophies, This
rink won the. 9 o'clock draw with
3 wins plus 14. Leslie Nate] of
Walkerton, assisted by Mrs. Nate!,
and Mr, and Mrs, C. Cunningham
()ante and; Mr. and Mrs. Jim Coul-
tes, Mrs. Lloyd Montgomery and
Wm, Tiffin captured 3rd while the
consolation winner was Jack
