at 'the -home of Mrs..B: H, Grop-
korth with 15 present, Mrs. Milian
*gore ,presided and ,ga,ye the call
to worship. The, prayer of approaeh
was read in. unison. 'The Scripture
lessons from Isaiah ,were read
Mrs, Groskorth ''and" Mrs. Russell
Gaunt: 'Mrs: Mdore gave the 'mini
rnents on the lessons; speaking on
the ever-deepening recognition of
the value of human life, the Sacred-
ness of brotherhood, tbe•right of
persons to justice, the shame of
the plundered poor and •the sense
of obligation to our neighbor.,
Mrs. .1.• G.. •Gillespie gave a read-
ing, "Racial Brotherhood" and "Mrs.
Ezra Scholtz sang "Bless this
House". Mrs. James Falconer led
in a discussion on ,the right of any-
one, to be discouraged when pro-
gress is slow' ,in righting wrongs,
or doubting that 'Eight will finally
be worked out and jtist.lee acclaim-
ed through the quiet persistanee
of Ma's "Spirit.
Mrs. G. B. Farrier led in prayer
for the success of the missionaiy
work .and the workers themZeites.
Mrs. J. D. Beeeroft had charge of
the study •book; '"Concerns of a
Continent", and spoke = on the
growth and needs 'of church work
in Alaska., with =Eskimo at the
north, Aluets, at the east and In-
dians in the west, and with. ,the
presenc6`,of military units in the
central agriCultiiral disetitta. Sh-e
explained that church, workers
travel many miles by plane, boat,
and station Wagon and at 'Sitka
-have a radio Station manned from
morning Until night to bring good'
programs to this land where over
90 per cent of home food and sup-.,
plies are imported,
Mrs, Albert Coultes„ treasurer,
in her report , stated 'that 9178 had
been sent to the Mission Board and
that over $13.00 had come in, in the
mite boxes. She also stated that that:
had been gathered to Send
the tailor samples of goods to
Korea, $4.00 of which had been
contributed by, the Mission Band.
Two dozen copies of the Upper
Room had been ordered and manyl
regretted that there had .been no
collection in this district for the
Bible Society or •the Red, Cross in
the fall months.
The 'next meeting will be held
at the hoine of Mrs. S, G, Gilles-
pie, with Mrs. Dan Tiffin in'charge`
of the study book, Mts. Moore of-'
fered prayer at 'the close of the'
Meeting.

Mrs. Emerson read a few of the

t ive criticisms, To name a few, the
need for new drapes and chairs in
the hall, the huge pile of snow on
'Highway 86 where one gets to the`
middle of the road before a clear,
view of On-corning traffic, can be
seen, the need for black top on
the village streets, the deceptive ad-
vertising with enclosed prizes in
the cartons.
Mrs. Eeecroft gave a read-
ing, "Referendes", The letter from

held on Wednesday night in the
Fordyce School. Mrs, Robert Pur-
don and Jimmie Robinson held the
high points and Mrs. George Web-
ster and J. D, Beeeroft were low.
;Lunch was served= and all enjoyed
the social evening.
Mr. John McGee received word
on Wednesday that his sister, Mrs.
Jennie Simpson, London, had been
taken to the hospital, suffering
from a severe stroke.
Mr. Garnet Farrier made .a busi-
ness trip to Toronto on Tuesday.
Mrs. W. J.. Watt has been ander
the doctor's care during the past
week.
Many in the, district were pleased
to hear that-"little =Robert 'Stanley;
son of Mr. and Mrs. George =Stan-
ley of Lucknow had not been very
badly hurt When he ran =into the
side of a truck on Monday of last'
week while going home from
school. Mrs. Stanley was formerly
Ann McInnis of Whitechureh.
Mr, Chas.. Robinson was among
a group of 'curlers who took in the
bonspiel at Seaforth on. Wednes-
day,
Mr. and Mrs, Archie Purdon end
kathy were in London on Monday
of last week.
Mr: and Mrs. W, R. Farrier 'left
on Saturday to spend a few weeks
at the home of their daughter, Mrs.
Jack Gillespie of Sarnia.
Nine tables were in play at the
euchre sponsored by the hall com-
mittee on Friday night in the
memorial hall. Mrs. John Gaunt
and Earl Caslick held high 'points
and Mrs. Chas. Martin and John
Willis held the low scores, Mrs J,

ling prize for lone hands. This prize=

Mrs. Archie Aitcheson has been
on the sick list for the past week,

WHITECHURCH - The annual
business meeting of the United
Church Sunday School was held on
Monday evening at the home of Mr,
and Mrs. S. G. Gillespie, with
thirteen present, and Mr. Neelon
presiding. He opened the meeting
with prayer. =Arthur Laidlaw, see-
retry-treasurer gave the report of
the last meeting and the financial
report, showing a balance of over
$20.
The following officers and teach-
ers were elected for this year:
Supt., Robert Laidlaw; assistant
supt., Garnet Farrier; secretary-
treasurer, Arthur Laidlaw, Percy
MeClenaghan; pianists, Karen
Groskorth, Wayne Farrier; Cradle
Roll supt., Mrs. Russell Gaunt; 1-6
year class, ' Mrs, G, E. Perrier,
Karen Groskorth; 7-9 years, Mrs.
Groskorth, Mrs. Russell Purdon;
10-13 years, Mrs. Millan Moore,
Mrs. Chapman; young people's
class, Mr. Neelon, G. E. Farrier;
Bible class, Mrs, D. Eeecroft,
Mrs. Jas, Falconer.
Sunday School had been held 40
Sundays and Milton Purdon had
100% attendance. Others who Won
prizes for attendance were: Wayne
Farrier, Elvvin Moore and Margaret
Moore.
Milton Purdon and David
Meightholm won diplomas for
church and Sunday, School attend-
ance anti memory verses, and Dl-
win. Moore, Wayne Farrier, blame
Coultes, Janis Farrier and. Brian
Purdon won seals for their Robert
Wrailres certificates.
Mr. Neelon ,pronounced the Bene-
diction and all enloyed the social
cup of tea served by the hostess,
