EXCHANGE GIFTS
AT GUILD MEETING
FORDWICH-The guild of St
Anne of Trinity Church held its
Christnaas meeting on Thursda,
Pvening at the home of Mrs. Peter
Browne. The president, Mrs, W.
Hargrave, was in pharge and op-
ened with the hymn "Away in a
Manger", followed by the Lord's
prayer.
' The Scripture lesson from the
second chapter of 'St, Luke was
taken by Miss Rona Van Velsor,
Mrs. Lyle Simmons gave a reading
entitled "Spirit of Christmas". The
roll call was answered by 15 mem-
bers with verse from a Christ-
mas card. The, financial report
was given by Miss Beatrice Wade
The following' are the officers
for 1959: Pres., Mrs. Wellington
Hargrave; first vice, Mrs. William
Sothern; second vice, Mk's, Jack
King; see,. Mrs, Don King; treas,
Miss Beatrice M Wade; auditors, rs
Peter Browne and Mrs. Jack King;
pianist, Miss Elva Foster.
Mrs, Roy Simmons gave a read-
ing, "Why Wives Arc So Odd at
Christmas". The meeting was
closed by the Rev. E. C. Attwell
and contests were conducted by
Miss Beatrice Wade and members
'exchanged gift's from a gaily de-
borated tree.
Lunch was served by the hosteis
assisted by Mrs. W, Hargrave and.
Mrs. W. Sothern.

To Feel True
Christmas Spirit
FORDWICH - The December
meeting of the Fordwich W.I. was
held at the home of Mrs. Sam
Johnson, and Mrs. Anson Demer-
ling presided. Mrs. Ken Graham
led in devotions from the secom
chapter of St, Luke, after which
several of the Christmas carols
were sung.
The roll call, "A childhood recol-
lection of a Christmas concert"
was answered by '25 members and
also gifts were handed in for. the
Salvation Army,
Mrs. Crosby Sothern gave a
Christmas story entitled "Let's
Keep Christmas", condensed by
Peter Marshall. Remember the
message, "unto you this day a Sa
viour is born" and Christmas will
always be such a gloridus time.
Sortie of our cards leave out the
stars, wise Men and shepherds.
Perhaps at this, joyous season, we
should take just a few minutes to'
hand out a little love and under-
standing. Let's not let crowds
shove out the spirit of Christmas
and it will not be commercialized
unless we choose to Make it so.
If you hear someone say, "Oh,
just Can't get the Christmas spirit",
suggest they read frem St. 'Luke,
When Christmas day comes you
will remember why we have and
will keep it as it IS in all its loveli-
nesa. s,
A donation was made to the
school for Retarded Children in
Wingham, Mrs, Ken Graham then
gave a very interesting demonstra-
tion art leather craft,
Mrs. Carl Johnson and Mrs, Mel
Allan conducted several contests.
Winners were Miss Minnid McEl-
wain and Mrs, C. Sothern, The
Meeting closed with the national
anthem and a delicious lunch was
served.
