Tells of Mexico
The Evening Auxiliary of Wing-
ham United Church held the NO-
vember meeting in the church
parlor on Tuesday etiening of last
Week.
The theme, "Peace and Brother-
hood", for the devotional period
was in charge of Mrs. George How-
sell, The Scripture reading was
given by Mrs, .3, Hamilton and
prayers for peace were said by Miss
Phyllis Johns and Mrs, A, Bennett.
A. story on brotherhood was read
by Miss Yvonne McPherson; Mrs.
T, Jardin delighted the group with
a solo, "Building for Eternity", by
N. B. Sargent,
Miss Norma Coutts presented the
topic, "An Understanding of Mexi-
co". Mexico is known as a land of
,contrasts and Miss Coutts gave
several incidents regarding that
fact. She also spoke of the aglicul-
ture, health, education, itliteracy
and thvangelism of the country.

Of W.A. Meeting
WROXETER — The November
meeting Of the Wroxeter W.A. was
held on Tuesday of lash week With'
Mr, George Gibson and Mrs, Har-
ry `Adorns' in charge. Mrs. Gibson
opened the meeting with a poem on
"Peace", The opening hymn wag
"God of 'Our Fathers, 'Known of
Old", Mrs, Adams led in, prayer,
followeti by the Scripture, Psalm
122, read by Mrs. Gibson.
The roil tall was answered with
a verse containing the word
"Peace", by 18 members, There
were three visitors present. IVIrs.
Gibson read an article "What is
Nate?", The elosing hymn was
"Land 6f Our )3irth", followed by
the Lord's prayer In unison.
Mrs, Merles McCuteheon, the
president, took the chair for the
busincs portion of the meeting,
and a, hew catering committee was
appointed, Mrs, 4ohn Snell, Mrs.

Copland, The Christmas meeting
During the last few weeks the
students, of W,D.H.S. have been
raking part in a magazine cam-
paign,
The total magazine sale was
$2,043,44. The High School was
allowed to' keep $770.4¢ of these
sales, After buying prizes for the
campaign, the High School' will
purchase a. Hi-Fi, set for the use
of the students.
The top saleswoman for 'the
campaign was Lynn Freuderna,n
who brought in $126,25, jean Jones
'vas next with a $77.50, total, and
Walt McKibben, third, with a total
of $51.27.

• Volleyball
The 'Senior Girls' Volleyball team
competed at W,O.S.S.A. in London
last Saturday.
South Huron defeated Wingham
in two out of three games 14-4 and
12-7 respectively.
In the next two games Kingsville
defeated Wingham 15-13 and 12-6
respectively.

The Semi-Finals
The Mustangs journeyed to the
semi-finals at Exeter to play
against Stratford.
The first three quarters of the
game was , a see-saw defensive
battle in which no scoring occur-
red. •In the last quarter Stratford
went, for a touchdown to lead 6-0,.
and, shortly afterwards, kicked
across -the dead ball line, for-,2,
more points. The final score was
8-0 for Stratford.
The footimil team gave `Ei: great
showing this year and this re-'
porter would like •to express his'
congratulations on beh'alf of the
entire student body.

fall, which necessitated being con-
fined to hospital, but 'hope for a
speedy recovery.

Legion Service
Officers Hold Meet • The Canadian Legion's first na-
tional service officers' conference
opened in Ottawa last week with
a total of 16 delegates, from every
province, attending the three-day
meeting. Object of the conferenc,e
was to further acquaint Legion
service officers with all aspects of
veterans' legislation.,„ During the
conference, delegates heard talks,
by numerous representativ,es of
government agencies and, also took
part }n, group diseussions. ,
