small children of the Fordyce
School were invited to attend at
a Hallowe'en party in. the school
on Friday afternoon. Wayne Mar-
tin presided for a Varied program,
which ended in several good con-
tests and a spelling match, with
Mrs. Russell Purdon and. Mrs. Wm.
Rintoul as leaders.
In the dress-up group, Linda
McGee won the prize for the best
fairy and Brian Purdon for the
comic, "bunny" make-up,
A lunch was served which includ-
ed sandwiches and cookies, candy
and apples, The children served the
lunch,
Laymen's Sunday

WHITECHURCH — Kenneth
Coultes presided at the Laymen's
service in Calvin-Brick United
Church on Sunday morning, and
Ivan Dow led in prayer and intro-
duced the special speaker, William
Batten of Exeter. Gilbert Beecroft
sang "I Shall Not Pass This Way
Again". Rev. Carl Krug pronounc-
ed the benediction,
The congregation of this church
will hold the annual supper and
business meeting in the 5.5. groom
of the Belgrave United Church on
Mond,ay evening, • November 10;
with all invited to' attend.

ENTERTAINS GUESTS
WHITECHURCH — The W.M.S.
of Calvin-Brick United Church held
its Thankoffering meeting in the
church on Friday evening, with
guests present from the Afternoon
and Evening Auxiliaries of Bel-
grave, Westfield, Donnybrook, St.
Helens and Whitechurch. About
100 ladies•were present,
Mrs. Gordon McBurney presided.
Mrs. Chas. Shiell read the Parable
of the talents and Mrs. McBurney
gave a short meditation on our
use of our Wei*. Mrs. McRitchie
led in prayer,
A quartet, Mrs. George Michie,
Mrs. George Johnston, Mrs. Cook
and Mrs. Carl Procter from the
Belgrave afternoon group sang,
"Guide Me 0 Thou Loving Saviour"
and the president, Mrs. Norman
Coultes welcomed the ladies to the
meeting. Mrs. Gilbert Beecroft in-
troduced the speaker, Mrs, 0, S.
MacNaughton of Wingham, who
gave a splendid talk on harvest,
saying, "The harvest is great and
how few the labourers, How grate-
ful we are for temporal things, but
how much more grateful we should
he for our spiritual inheritance,"
Mrs. Peter de Boor of St, Helens
sang the Twenty-third Psalm in
her native Holland tongue.
Mis's M. Williainson showed her
interesting slides on India, and
gave an interesting commentary of
her previous work there. The Bel-
grave evening W.M.S. group, Mrs.
Michie, Mrs. Walsh, Mrs.. Borman
and Mrs, Albert Bieman sang ,"In
My Heart there Rings a Melody".
Mrs. Clarence Chamney moved a
hearty Vote of thanks to all who
had assisted with the program and
Mrs, Coultes closed the meeting
with the benediction. All enjoyed a
social hour.

Geo. Machan, Mitchell. Mr, and
Mrs. jack Brown and baby have
taken up residence in the Merwyn
Grainger house recently vacated by
the Elliott family, Mr. and Mrs.
John Sinnamon and Murray have
moved to their new home formerly
occupied by the late Mrs. Wm.
Gibson, which they purchased from
Mrs. J. D. McGillvary, Paisley.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence 'Clement,
Messrs Peter and Danny Isabelle,
Toronto, spent the week-end at
their home here.

Mrs. McGee and Mrs. Ken. Bennett
to arrange the program. Mrs, Mc-
Gee_ opened the meeting with the
hymn "Where Cross the Crowded
Ways of Life", followed by Lord's
prayer, Mrs. R. Loutitt read from
the 26th chapter of St. Matthew:,
Mrs, Bennett gave a commentary
on the Scripture entitled "Call to
COMpa nionship".
