To Abolish DST
BELGRAVE—Mrs, Walter Scott
and Mrs, Richard Procter were the
delegates to the Area convention
of the Women's Institute held in
London last week. Mrs, Scott spoke '
on the resolution from the Belgrave
branch, calling for greater limita-
tions and final abolition of Daylight
Saving Time,' which was over-
whelmingly endorsed and copies are
being sent to every province in
order to make It a national pro-
ject.

the regular meeting held on Tues-
day afternoon in the community
centre, There were 19 members and
two visitors Present,
It was agreed to give the United
Church $2.04 for the use of dishes
and silver and $2.Q0 to the care-
taker, hive dollars was voted to,
the Canadian Institute for the
,Blind, The president, Mrs, Richard
Procter sent her thanks to all who
had taken cars to Whitechoreh
and to those who had helped with
the banquet, Mrs. Fred Cook Pc,-

her while in hospital.
'Five dollars is to be given to Mrs.
Herson Irwin and ‘Mrs. Clifford
Purdon, leader and assistant lead-
er of the 4-H homemaking club to

BELGRAVE--Thefall Thankof-
ifering meeting of the Women's
Missionary Society was held in the
lchurch with most of the member:
present and the ladies of the Blue
vale auxiliary as guests at thr
meeting.
The president, Mrs. Joe Dunbar
presided and opened the meeting
with words on Thanksgiving fol-
lowed by singing Psalm 104. The.
Scripture and meditation from
Psalm° 65 were given by Mrs. Ed-
gar Wightman and Mrs. J. C. Mc-
Burney led in prayer,
i Mrs. Victor Youngblut chose
"Elizabeth" as the woman of the
Bible. The secretary and treasur-
er gave their reports and the roll
call was answered with a verse on.
Thanksgiving. Hymn 686 was sung
and the Thanksgiving creed was re-•
peated in unison.
Rev. J. Green was the guest
speaker and took his text from the
book of Matthew, "The harvest ii
great, but the laborers are few"
Mrs. Green favored with a ,solo,
"Under His Wings", which was very
much enjoyed. , •
Mrs. Joi. Dunbar offered the de-
dicatory prayer following the of-
fering. On behalf of the auxiliary
Mrs. 0, G, Anderson expressed ap-
preciation to Mr. Green for his in-
spiring message and to Mrs. Greer
for her beautiful solo.' Hymn 131
was sung and Mr. Green closed the
meeting with. Prayer.
Lunch was served and a social
time was enjoyed.
