The Wingham Kinette Club• met
at •the home of Mrs, Jack,Bateson
with 100 per cent attendance and
two visitors present. A 'report• of
the Kinette tea and baking sale
indicated that the event was a de-
cided success,
Mrs. Gary Gibson won the lucky
draw on the' heirloom bedspread.
A donation of $200 was voted to the
swimming pool fund, The Kinette
,Scholanship of $100 was presented
to Gwen Walsh of Belgrave' by
Mrs. John Currie at the high
school commencement,

Salvation Army, all of wham had
kindly withdrawn their evening
service, joined the United 'Church
in the school room to ,greet Dr. and
Mrs. Beecroft. , W. S. Hall
welcomed everyone and, musical

Dr. Beecroft spoke briefly, recalling

Marks 92nd 'Birthday
There.was a family gathering a'
the herne of Mr. and Mrs, Robert,
Stonehouse in Belgrave on Sunday,
to celebrate Mrs, Stonehouse'S 92nd
birthday. Mrs. Stonehouse,, who is
still very active and interested in
her home and community, actually
marked the 'birth date on Monday,
October 27th.

Two New Members
Join Kinsmen Club
Constable J. J. "Bob" Lewis of
the Wingham detachment of the
Ontario Provincial. Police was 'the
Vest speaker at the Kinsmen's
regular dinner meeting held at the
Queens Hotel on Friday evening,
when he spoke on traffic viola-
tions. He was introduced by Jim

ed eOrePiation, 'on behalf of the
'eltib,,follewing• the address,
Britee MacDonald reported on the
Paper drive held recently, which
was a decided success. It was also
voted to` senda cheque to the Can-
adian Institute for the Blind.
Two new Members, joined the
Club at this meeting. ,They are
Maurice,Stainton and. Robert Cut-
pell. '. •
Since the next meeting is to be
the annual 'Ladies' Night, plans
were discussed for that event.

At a l'edentaneeting the Win'gham
Kinettes voted $200 to the pool
fund, along will their Wholehearted
and Continuing support of the pro-
ject.
The local 'Brownies htiV't already
completed plans 'to hold a "basket
drive" on Wednesday, November 5,
with all proceeds earmarked for
the swimming pool fund.
Several other. money-raising
events are in the planning stage by
various Organizations in town arid
the rural district.
Laymen Conduct
Church Services
Laymen of St. Paul's Anglican
Church took the 11 o'clock service
on Sunday morning. Herbert A.
Fuller conducted the service, Alvin
Higgins and Barry Wenger read
the lessons and, the rector, Rev,
C. V, Johnsen, preached the ser-
mon.
A laymen's service will also be
conducted"in the. Wingham United
Church this conking Sunday, when
the speaker will be Robert South-
cott, one of. the publishers of The
Exeter Times-Advocate, and promi-
nent 'in Western Ontario's laymen's
circles of the United Church.

witty engaged as the new clerk of
the Town of Wingham, commences
his duties on Monday of next
week.

Legion bingo on Friday evening.
Several of the regular games were
split. Miss Karen Swanson won the

nedy, Patrick St., and Mrs. L.

Wendell Stamper has sold his
farm on the edge of Wroxetet to
Henry Wheeler of Turribery Town-
ship. Mr. Stamper has taken .up
residence on the farm recently
purchased from Mrs. Walter Sna-

Mrs, Harry McGuire (Carrie) of

house, of Phoenix, Arizona, tele-

Mrs. Stonehouse was the former
Agnes Jamieson, and was born on

celebrated their diamond wedding

ly fractured leg. After prelimin-

Hospital he was transferred to a

The following day six-year-old
Leslie Hilbert, son of Mr. and Mrs
William Hilbert of Wingham re-
ceived a bad shaking up and bruis-
es to his face when he ran in front
of a school bus. He was allowed
home after treatment at the hos-
pital.
On Thursday Paul Benninger, 10
