Welcomes Graduates
The Baby Band Tea of the Wing
ham United ChUrell was held' on
October 3rd at 3 p.m, in the Sun-
day School zoom of the church,
with a good number present, Mrs.
Stewart Beattie, superintendent of
the Baby Band presided at the
meeting.
DurinK the meeting a duet by
Lrinda Reavie and Lynda MeTag-
gart, turd a piano solo by Linda
Green were much •enjoyed.
Mrs. G., W. Tiffin, using a mite
box, told the girls and boys in a
most interesting manner, how the
money put in it, helped •the, child-
ren in other /ands.
The following children graduated
from the Baby Band and were wel-
comed by Mrs, Tiffin into the
M'ssion Band, Joan Bennett, Wen-
dy Crewson, Diane Casliek, Deb-
bie Grose, Lyla Anne I-Tiekey, Deb-
bie Gibson, Barbara Hetherington,
Gloria Lewis, Trudy McGuire,
Brenda McTaggart, 'Vicki Rosen-
hagen. Marilyn Tiffin, Lorna Park-
inson, Brian Brooks, Ronald Oar-
hert' Thomas Irwin, Joe ,Kerr, Ken-
neth Lem, Jimmie Moffat, Billy
Strong, Richard Stapleton, Paul
Templeman and Brian McCallum.
A group of girls graduated from
Mission Band to C.G.I.T. and were
welcomed by Mrs. Tiffin.
Mrs. Fingland, president of the
Women's Missionary Sticiety spoke
a few words.
Following the' closing hymn, the
0,G.I.T, girls• served lunch, and a
social hour was enjoyed.

St.Ivlatthew's •Lutheran Church.
Mildnlay, was the scene Of an
autumn weddinV on Saturday after-
noon it three o'clock, when Rev. B.
.'iseher united in marriage Mar-
garet Cassidy and Alfred Schwich-
tenberg, both .of Wingham. The
bride is a dkilWiter of Mr, and
Mrs. Cassidy, Northumberland,
England, and the groom, is a son
of Mr and agr,s, Fred SchWiehten-
berg of IN/BMA-lay.
The bride's brother-in-law, John
Hanna of Winghant, gave her in
marriage. She wore a strapless bal-
lerina length gown of Chantilly
lace over taffeta with anatchiing
fitted bolero, buttoned to the waist
with sleeves tapering to points,
Her fingertip veil was held in place
by a halo headdress of pleated
organdy, studded with rhinestones
and seed, pearls. She carried a bou-
quet of red rose buds with trailing
fern and satin ribbons,
Her matron of honor, Mrs, David
Burgess of Wingham, wore a strap-
less ballerina length pink gown of
taffeta overlayed with nylon net
and lace, a pink organdy stole and
pink gloves, Her headdress was
pink rose buds and pleated organdy
and she carried a bouquet of white
and blue baby mums.
The flower girl was ,Maureen
Hanna, a niece of the bride. Her
short white nylon dress had an
overskirt with appliqued blue flow-
ers, with a full crinoline, She car-
ried a basket of mauve and white
baby mums and wore a blue and
white flower headdress,
David Burgess of Wingham was
groomsman, and the ushers were
Wilbert Schwichtenberg, brother of
the grciom, and William. Forsyth,
brother-in-law of the bride. David,
Schwalm, of Mildmay, presided at
the organ and played "Beautiful
Saviour" and "0 Perfect Love".
The reception was held at the
Commercial Hotel, The bride's mo-
ther, who came from. England to
attend the wedding, wore a tur-
quoise dress and matching duster
coat of, taffeta, accented with gold
lame thread, Her accessories were
beige and she had a corsage of
pink and white carnations.
The groom's mother chose a blue
crepe dress and bolero trimmed
with white collar and cuffs and
studded with rhinestones, white no-
accessories, and her corsage was
pink carnations.
For their wedding trip to Mont-
real, and Ottawa, the bride wore a
charcoal suit with white accessories
and a corsage of red roses. They
will reside in Wingham.,
Guests attended the weddihg
from England, Mildmay, Wingham
Kitchener, Toronto, Trenton, Ot-
tawa and Elliot Lake.
Successful Tea

The Catholic Women's League
held a bake sale and tea in the
Council Chambers last Saturday.
At the door receiving was the
president, Mrs, Geo. Skinn and
assisted by her was Mrs. Win.
Templeman. In charge of the hake
table was Mrs. F. Caskanette, Mrs,
L. Redman, Mrs. E. Olbright and
Mrs. R. Sewers. The tea was serv-
ed by Miss Mary Runstedtler, Misa
Mary Louise Flack, Mrs. Ron Fox-
ton and Mrs. Doug Nesbitt. Prizes
drawn for: 'the silverware went to
Mr. E. Meyers of Formosa, the
carving set, to Mr. Clarence Borho
of Wingham, quilt, to Mr. Norman
Shiels of Wingharn and the child's
dress to Mr. Mullens of Stratford.

of 'cAroodstock are spending a week
visiting with Mr. Fraser Forgie and
Mrs, L. Underwood. .
and Mrs, Hugh Carmichael
spent the week-end with Mr. and
Mrs, Marvin Smallman in London.
—Miss Bertha MacKay . of Len-
ion spent the week-end with Mr,
and Mrs. Gordon MacKay.
—Mrs. B. A. Murray, Minnie St.,
returned home from a vacation
with her son, Datrid Murray and
family of Winnipeg ,on Wednesday
'of last week. Her son, R. E. Murray
met her in Toronto, and together
they visited different members, of
the family in Cookeville, Hamilton,
Richmond -Hill and Brampton. Re-
turning to Wingham on Sunday she
was accompanied by Mr. and Mrs,
R. E. Murray, Wayne and Donna
Murray of Brampton.

lin Of Toronto spent the week-end
with Mr. and Mrs. Fred D,avidson.
—Miss Helen Haines, who is
teaching in. London this year, spent
the week-end with her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Victor Haines. On Satur-
day she was soloist at the wedding
of a friend, in Blyth.

Blyth, visited with her sister, Mrs.
.Edgar Pattison and Laura over the
week-end.

ed Boeing, Stratocruiser for the

of these big planes had been seen
in Winnipeg since they were used
to evacuate flood victims in 1950.
