Beeeroft led in thoughts for Stew,. ardship, and Mrs. Ezra Seboltz led in Prayer, MO, W, R, Parrier played a piano solo, "Meditation", and Mrs, J. G, Gillespie gave a reading, "World Peace and World' Safety", saying each of us has a contribution to make, live in peace, with,lack of fear. Plans were made for the hale of homemade baking and afternoon tea, to be held in the council chambers, Wingham, this week, and the ladies decided to serve a salad plate, They decided to in- vite Wingham, Bluevale,. St, Helens and the ,Presbyterian W,M.S., to the October Thankoffering meet- ing, when Dr. Donald Watt, of Bella Coola and formerly of White- ehurch, who is now taking a course at Toronto Hospital, and Univer- sity, will be present and address the meeting on Friday evening, 17. He will show pictures of his work. The ladies decided to have a table of 25 cent articles at the tea. to raise funds for the Memorial Fund for the late president, MA, Wheebles. Mrs. Falconer closed the meet- ing with prayer. Mrs. K. Dowling presided for the WA. meeting that followed, and closed the meeting with the Mizpah benediction, 'All enjoyed the social time at the. birthday tea that followed, Former Members lonored by W.M.S. WHITECHURCH—The regular monthly meeting of Calvin-Brick , United Church W.M.S. was held on Wednesday evening last, at the hbme of Mrs. Sidney Thompson,' with a good attendance, and with the president, Mrs. Norman Coul- tes, presiding and taking the wor- ship service, with the theme "The Earth Is the, Lord's". Mrs. Alex Robertson gave a splendid report of the week she 'spent at tbe school for'leaders, held at {Alma College, this summer, and also introduced the new study book, "Cencerns of a Continent". Two former faithful members of this society were honoured, when Mrs. George McGee read an ad- dress and Mrs. Frank Thompson was presented with a W.M.S, pin. Mrs. Herson, Irwin received a cup and saucer, in appreciation of the many years they had given to the work of the W.M.S. in this district. Mrs, Mason Robinson and Mrs. John Jamieson were appointed as delegates to the sectional meeting Fordwich on October 7; and Mrs. Gilbert Beeeroft and Mrs. Alex Robertson were appointed on the Resolution and Courtesy com-. He also spent several weeks in Victoria Hospital. He was a son of the late William Biernan and Mrs. Bieman of Owen Sound and resided on the 9th Con- cession of East Wawanosh, where last year he built a fine new bung- aloW, He wast, well-known in this district for his fine herd of jersey cattle on his well-equipped dairy farra, He Was in his 4ist year, His wife, formerly Katherine MeKay, daughter of Mr. and 'Mrs, Harry McKay of Walkerton, and three. children, George and Alan in scheol and Ann, at home survive. He also leaves his mothers, Mrs. Bierhain of Owen Sound, one bro- ther, Albert Of East WawanoSh and three sisters, Mrs, Howavl McKel- vie, of Walkerton, Mra Clarence Srnith of Clifford and Mrs. Arthur King of Owen Sound.
