called to the front and Mrs. An-
gus McDonald read an address, and
Mrs, George Webster presented the
young couple with a well-filled
pose.
Murray thanked their many
friends for their generosity and
kindness, Farrier's orchestra pro-
vided music for dancing.

land Presbyterials gathered on
Sunday evening at the Youth Rally
held in the Presbyterian Church.
The president of the Presbyterial

Andrew Loll, who is. attending
Knex College. At the conclusion. of

the church for a sing-song and a
social half hour with refreshments.

The use of weed-free seed, com
bined with • good cultural practices,
will eradicate; Mustard and elimi-
nate the ldss 'Which it causes. Fin-
ger weeders, Rotary hOes and har-
rows are excellent' for destroying
young Mustard plants. It is also
readily killed-by the' use of 2, 2-D
chemicals in small amounts---2 to
4 oz. per acre—when. the Weed is
in the four or five leaf • stage, If
spraying' is delayed until a later
time, more material is required
and damage may be done 'to the
crop.
Keeping crop free of Mustard
will bring increased returns to the
farmer which should be sufficient
incentive for- him to, destroy the
weed wherever it may appear.

late Stewart Moore, held from the

burg to Eden cemetery. Last Wed-
nesday Mr. and. Mrs. Mo'ore were
called to Parkhill where 'his :mo-
ther, Mrs. Agnes Boughner, had
suffered a stroke at the home of
her niece, Mrs. Leo Devine. Mr.
and Mrs, Fred Holland and children
of Ailsa Craig visited on Saturday
at' the Kennedy home,

that Mrs. Forest Payne of Detroit
who came here to 'visit with Mr:
and Mrs. Kennedy in November last
year, and who slipped on ice in
Wingham and broke her hip, is
able to he about the house on
crutches and is beginning to put a

The heavy frosts of the past

loads of. Institute members accept-
ed an invitation to attend a special
meeting of the Kari-Shea.Institute
at Holytood on Friday. Mrs, Allis-
ter Hughes presided, This was' a
daffodil tea to produce funds for
the Cancer Fund and the room was
prettily decorated with daffodils
and the waitresses and officiW
also wore a daffodil, .
The speaker for the occasion was
Mrs, Neste) of Walkerton, who
gene a very interesting demonstraa
lion of the materials used for dres-
sings, and the dressings used in
cancer treatment, Mrs. Hughes
gave a reading, telling why the daf-
fodil had been chosen as the sym-
bol for the cancer fund drive.
A social time was enjoyed at the
close of an excellent Program.

Wingham Hospital on Wednesday
last for their home on the 6th con-

Mr. Elmer Sleightholm was call-
ed to S. Joseph's Hospital, London
on Thursday last -yrhere his father
has been seriottsly ill following an
operation on Monday of last week.

Brussels also spent Sunday in Lon-
don and visited with their mother,
Mrs. Frank Sleightholm, at the
lierhe of their brother Gordon,

Mrs. Groskorth was able to leave
the hospital one day last week.

Hospital Auxiliary rummage sale

15 Members 'at
Calf Club Meeting
The first regular meeting of the
Turnberry *Calf Club was held in
Gilmour's School on Wedne'sday,
April 20th, at am with. 15 members
present,
The meeting , opened with, the
4-I-I Club pledge, The minutes of
the last meeting were then read.
The club leaders distributed man-
uals and other supplies for the
coming year.
The mer4ers- split into groups
and-ot/e club 'leaders discussed
"Feeds and Feeding." The meet-
ing was adjourned.

The "Advice Seekers" held their
6th meeting at S.§.'Ne, 9 School;
April 30th, with thirteen girls pre-'
sent, -The president, Rosalind Lari-
at, was in the chair: The meeting
opened by singing "0 Canada,"
followed by the 4-H piedge in uni-
son, The roll, call was• answered
with "One Accident hazard in my
home and what I'm going -to do
about it,"

April 28, the Belmore Guardian
Angels opened their meeting with
the 4;H Pledge, followed 'by the
roll call and the secretary's report,
"Healthful Clothing" was the sub-
ject under discussion and Mrs.
Wilfred. Johann gave some notes
on the same theme,

One Week". The home assignments

Hotel in Neustadt from the Me-

Association held its regular mon-
thly Meeting at the Hanover Inn,
Hanover, on Friday May and,
President Harry Bruegeman was
in charge of the meeting. and wel-
comed members from Kincardine,
Wingham, Arthur, Walkerton and
Hanover.
A great deal of discussion took
place regarding the replacement
of good permanent insurance with
term insurance, A resolution 're-
garding the problem was drawn up
to be sentto the national head-
quarters of the Life Underwriters
Association of Canada and Tor-
onto.
Howard Bell introduced Mr. G.
Mel Hanna, the guest speaker for
the meeting. Mr, Hanna is a mem-
ber of the Owen Sound Life 'Under-
writers Association and based his
talk on Life Insurance as an in-
vestment, • He compared the merits
of the purchase of. permanent life
insurance with the false impres- •
sion that a better investment is,
made in purchasing term insurance
and investing in various investment
schemes. The facts pointed out
were very revealing and helpful to
those present. He was thanked by
the president.
Plans were laid for the next
monthly meeting when National
Quality Awards will he presented
to several members of the Saugeen
Association.
An unfortunate incident occurred
during the meeting when Mr.
Morris Mahood of Kincardine was
informed by telephone of the sud-
den death of Ilia father. An ex--
pression of -sympathy has been
sent from the association to the
