COUNCIL ANNOUNCES
FILMS FOR MAY
The executive of the Wingham
and District Film Council met last
week with eight members present.
Reports showed that three clubs
analthree,churches had enrolled as
members and two others had used
films once, since :the ..previous'
meeting. It was felt these films
were meeting a need and that their
usefulness would increase as more
people realized they were avail-
able,
Projectionist training classes
have been &Id on Tuesdays and
Wednesdays'for sometime and sev-
eral are ready to receive licenses,
These will expire on August 31st,
1959, when refresher courses will
be available before renewals. A few
more could be trained now if you
will contact Mrs. Harcourt at once.
Those taking the course are asked
to keep appointments as the instru-
tors are giving their time,
The main problem now Is how
to procure a projector for the local
film council by the tin'ie the Na -
Serial Fihn Board needs the
one now being used. After.
discussion it was agreed that $600
to $800 was needed and there are
very few opportunities for raising
it unless service clubs, individuals
or councils in the district would
contribute, Anyone who• would like
to do ib can send a contribution
to the treasurer, Mrs. H. Burrell,
Wingham and mark it for the pro-
jector fund, This equipmentwill
then be available for use in gr,oups
in the district for a charge of $3 to
non-members but free to all mem-
ber organizations, Part of all mem-
bership fees goes to a county .or-
ganization to be used to' purchase
mere films.

Witnesses Gather
At Mount Forest
A•great opportunity was afforded
manly :people to see the .New World
society in action this past week-
end as Jehovah's Witnesses held
their assembly at Mount Forest in
the district high school auditorium.
There were 498 'in attendance.
The 'Program` consisted of three
days of Bible discussions, instruc-
tions, demonstrations and experi-
ences. Highlighted among the ses-
sions were the .various portions
conducted by many local witnesses..
H. Wiltink of Wingham gave
the audience an account of the
condition that prevailed on the
earth directly following the flood
of Noah's day.
Five candidates symbolized their
willingness to do God's will by
water immersion.
Saturday evening produced a
variety of ways that Bible lovers
can be assisted to learn the many
things cdntaltied in God's word.
The theme set was "Fulfilling Our
Ministry."
The climax of the gathering
came on Sunday when at 3 p.m.
G. H. Saltmarsh, district super-
visor, spoke on the subject, "Fac-
ing the Future Without Fear".
Among the many interesting
features of the assembly was the
fact that 76 volunteered their ser-
vices to" make all Convention de-
partments run smoothly. 813 meals
were served at cost by the efficient
cafeteria staff of Jehovah's wit-
nesses, ably assisted by Mrs. Jones,
the High School dietician.
